I just got back from the Wonders of Chile & Argentina (2/4/16). Had a wonderful time with a delightful group, excellent guide. Scenery was spectacular - a lot of unspoiled land Note: none of the hotels had wash cloths so, if it's important to you, take one with you.
Aurelia Strupp Feb 05, 2016 at 11:15 AM

Glad you had a wonderful trip. Thanks for the info.
Anne Decker Feb 06, 2016 at 11:32 AM

Thanks, Eileen. One cloth just went into my stack to bring. I'm hoping it cools just a bit before the March trip.
Eileen Mehta Feb 06, 2016 at 03:53 PM

We had ideal weather throughout our trip except for Iguazu Falls where it rained. I never saw a mosquito but they recommend something containing DEET. Better safe than sorry. I had no trouble with my luggage but another group had their luggage delayed and when they got it, it had been tampered with. Mostly make-up taken. If you don't use the hotel safe boxes, at least lock your suitcase when you're out if you leave any valuables.

Will be on the March 4 Wonders of Chile & Argentina trip. Have an assigned roommate and am wondering who it will be. I am planning to arrive in Santiago on the 3rd for a extra day of rest before we start. Looking forward to meeting other travelers.
Anne Decker Feb 03, 2016 at 02:38 PM

Could be me. Do you speak Spanish? Soy, un poco... Where are you coming from? I'm in SW Washington, just north of Portland, OR.
Aurelia Strupp Feb 03, 2016 at 03:30 PM

I'm coming from Madison WI which is part of the reason for the day early departure. We never know what the weather will be like. I don't speak Spanish, but I have traveled in Central and South America so have a little undersstanding

I goofed. I have a little understanding of the cultures and a few words. I've traveled a lot with Road Scholar and really like the way they organize their trips. If we're not roommates we will still have time to get to know each other. Look forward to seeing you in Santiago.

Am traveling 1/22/16 from Miami for the Wonders of Chile & Argentina. My first Roads trip. Was hoping to find someone else on that program. Don't yet have my reservation # & am anxious, although I have the flight itinerary.
Sandra Bennett Jan 20, 2016 at 11:43 PM

On the itinerary, is there a airline code? That's all you'd need at the airport...........for flight check-in & your passport, & you're off. If you had Road Scholar make your travel arrangements for you, better be calling Road Scholar ASAP. My trip starts Feb 4th. This will be my 5th RS trip - not to worry; you'll have a great time, get to meet new people, experience new places & food.

I wonder if we will or can visit Palacio de la Moneda in Santiago.
Anne Decker Jan 19, 2016 at 05:47 PM

I'm hoping to see the Museo Chileno de Arte Precolumbino - looks like it's close to to Palacio de la Moneda.

Sandra Bennett Jan 09, 2016 at 10:56 PM

Mary, my trip starts Feb 4th. As for Pablo Neruda's house etc., the RS tour guides do a great job to accommodate everyone's 'wants'. Maybe mention yours at the 1st night get-together dinner?

Mary Camarillo Jan 09, 2016 at 10:39 PM

Any chance of seeing Pablo Neruda's house in Santiago or Valparaiso? Looks like there is little free time the second and third nights in Santiago. Anyone have dinner recommendations?

Sandra Bennett Dec 28, 2015 at 07:52 PM

The program guide for this trip includes excellent packing tips. If you take a sleeveless top, wear a l/s shirt to wear over it when temps are cooler. And, your rain jacket over both if you want more warmth. With 2 neutral colors of tops & bottoms, you can mix & match many 'new' outfits from just a few pieces. Take clothes that are comfortable for you! Trust me, no one is going to be looking at your clothes. It's all about casual comfort so you can enjoy the trip! :)

Mary Camarillo Dec 28, 2015 at 05:56 PM

We're looking forward to our February 11 departure. We know it will be hot in Santiago and Buenos Aires but are wondering if we need warmer clothes for the journey to Bariloche. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
