Considering signing up for the January program. Intermediate skier ... prefer cruising the blue runs. Anyone (male) going who is looking for a roommate? Thanks.

Anne Kaiser Nov 10, 2015 at 09:49 AM

I just signed up for the January trip but I haven't made any travel arrangements yet. Can anyone tell me if it is worth spending an additional day in Park City to visit the Olympic Park?

Tom Buckley Dec 08, 2015 at 01:48 PM

I agree. If anything say a night in Salt Lake and take in the Morman museam

Reading the comments it sounds like the trip is ski in ski out - but then it also seems like the hotel is on the bus route - can someone clarify? Also, i have an epic ski pass - is there any adjustment if you don't need a lift ticket?
Gene Newman Sep 19, 2015 at 09:03 AM

This trip has been ski-in ski-out in the past. I does not appear to be set up that way this coming season.

Anyone have advice on ski rental places at or near Park City?
Gary Nielsen Oct 05, 2014 at 10:54 AM

There are a number of ski rental places to choose from but we like Jan's Rental which is located just outside the doors from the front desk of the Main Lodge. Phone (435) 649-2500. The Main Lodge is where our Road Scholar meals and classes take place. You can store your skis/poles in the locker room in the Main Lodge and your ski boots in our Lake Placid Conference room where our meals and classes take place.

Who's signed up for Jan 26th, I am from Reno/Taho, no snow in Tahoe so looking forward to this trip.

Maggie Dunham Dec 30, 2013 at 11:34 AM

I've signed up for this trip starting on Feb 23. I'm excited! No one I know skis anymore and my kids don't like it. So I'm going alone. Anyone else from Dallas planning on going on this trip?
J Kennedy Jan 02, 2016 at 02:11 PM

Hi, Maggie! I'm 62, Female, skier, from Texas! I'm just now getting on this site today. I don't know one thing about this group, but interested in learning, for I enjoy skiing - but, no one to ski with!
J Kennedy Jan 02, 2016 at 03:02 PM

Uh-Oh... I was just reading reviews and read YOURS! I failed to read you wrote this post in 2013! Are you still participating with this program?

Joseph Klein Nov 20, 2013 at 11:38 PM

Haven't skied in a few years, booked this trip, starting to get excited. Park City was my very first Western trip, time to return.
Joe from MD
Gene Newman Nov 20, 2013 at 11:54 PM

which trip are you attending. I'm going on 1/26. Lived in Md most of my life. Moved to Reno last year, First trip to Utah.
Joseph Klein Nov 21, 2013 at 09:15 AM

Attending 2/2-2/8, never been on a R/S trip, not one for too much structure, family doesn't ski, didn't want to go alone. Curious how this will work out. I love skiing, will have a good attitude. Certainly better than a good day at work. Gene, where in MD did you live? I,m in Silver Spring, just outside DC.
Gene Newman Nov 21, 2013 at 11:50 AM

Annapolis. I've been on 8 trips with Road Scholar. Well run programs.like minded participants. A great way to travel solo.activities are always optional. Since you are staying at the mountain you can do your out thing if the "structure" gets to you.
Joseph Klein Nov 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM

Thanks Gene. I'm sure I'll have a blast regardless. My last ski trip to Utah I stayed in SLC and skied Cottonwood Caynon (Brighton, Solitude), 2 days at Snowbasin in Ogden and a splurge at Deer Valley. Conditions at all resorts were fantastic. Park City Mt. Resort is large enough and offers a variety of different types of skiing where there is something for all abilities. Being from the East, as you can imagine, one of the differences is lack of ice (crud) under loose snow, powder (which I'm not used to) and possibly deeper snow. As I recall, there are also plenty of groomed runs. If you love skiing, besides the areas around Tahoe (near you), have you been to Mammoth Mtn. 3 hours south of Reno? That place is awesome in the truest sense of the word. I strongly recommend it. Close enough, like going to OC for me in the summer. Anyway, so much for rambling, have to get ready to leave for work (at DCA for Metro. Wash. Airports Auth.) Will chat later. Oooh I'm getting excited!
Gene Newman Nov 23, 2013 at 10:26 PM

Im heading up to Northstar at Tahoe tomorrow. Today was opening day. Not a lot open yet but I just enjoy skiing so much since I got my new bionic knees and moved out here. to my mind a bad day out here is a great day back east.
Joseph Klein Nov 23, 2013 at 10:51 PM

I'm hip
Joseph Klein Nov 28, 2013 at 09:25 AM

How was Northstar? How did the knees hold up? Hope everyone reading this has a good Thanksgiving.
Gene Newman Nov 28, 2013 at 11:30 AM

Northsrtar was great. They have great snowmaking and grooming. Limited terrain since it has been a slow early season, but I skied 4 days this week. My knees are amazing! Haven't felt this good in 30 years.
