I'm arriving at McCarren at about 10:30 AM on 3/31 and will rent a mid sized car. I am going on 2 more RS trips in Arizona after the Death Valley trip and will be passing McCarron after the Death Valley trip.

I'm signed up and this is my first RS trip too! I'm driving from the Bay Area for the February trip. Is anyone interested in carpooling?
karen huntzinger Jan 09, 2013 at 11:43 PM

I'll be flying early in the AM and then killing time in McCarron for the shuttle. I was born in Redwood City and went to HS in San Ramon, so I have a clue how far you're going. I'll probably be the only one at McCarron knitting sitting on hiking boots. The trip looks like its full. I'm lousy at names, so I hope others will introduce themselves here.

Wondering if anyone else has signed up for this program? This will be my first road scholar trip

Hi Karen,

I plan to go on this trip--looking forward to it and have to commit today. I live in Knoxville TN

Hi Doris. I live in Salem, OR. After 50 inches of rain this year, I'm looking forward to some guaranteed sun.

Hi Karen,
Doris Gove Jan 18, 2013 at 07:13 PM

I'll be at McCarren too--won't be knitting, but I will have hiking boots. I think I arrive around 10:30 and shuttle is 12:30. Let's find some way to find each other for lunch or something. This will be my 3rd RS trip--the first two were intergenerational, with my grandson.

When it gets closer we can exchange cell phone #/plans. I'll be coming in on Southwest, not sure if that's a different terminal in that airport. Glad to see we'll have a grocery stop on the way, but it would be nice to grab a meal while we're waiting for the shuttle

Did a quick search, looks like the Texan grill restaurant has a good rating in the Esplanade, outside of security.

Sounds good. My cell: 865-456-8198

Help! I signed up several weeks ago and made my flight arrangements, but when I check this trip now-It no longer gives me the shuttle info. I'm releived to see others refer to the shuttle because I hadn't planned on renting a car. IFor travel plans it no longer gives you flight and shuttle options. Has something changed? I will check withRoad Scholar. Thanks for any help. My cell 317-507-5554(Indiana)

hope you heard from road scholar, the packet I received (by email) this week had shuttle info. Glad to see other women on the trip, looks like we'll need nicknames! For you or any others, I get in at 9am I'll be knitting to kill time, mostly in the texan grill in the esplanade. My cell is five oh three- five one oh- oh eight five one
