Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Steve Kreindel May 06, 2013 at 07:21 PM

Constantinople by Mansel is a difficult read. This might be better when I come back from the trip. I skimmed it. Anyone else flying through Chicago on May 13?

Beth Fleming Apr 27, 2013 at 03:53 PM

Has anyone read any of the suggested reading list. Did the book hold your attention? We are on the 9/30/13 trip.
David Perry May 03, 2013 at 01:40 PM

"My Name is Red" by Orhan Pamuk is engaging, informative and entertaining. It's well worth reading, even if you are not going to Turkey.
Beth Fleming May 03, 2013 at 06:07 PM

Thank you for the recommendation!
Claudia Wallingford May 04, 2013 at 01:06 PM

"Bastard from Istanbul"is worth reading. The author also has a new book out "Honor." Haven't read it yet but it is also about Turkey.
Beth Fleming May 04, 2013 at 03:13 PM

Thanks, Claudia. I'm on page 36. I'll hang in there.

Lorraine Fuchs Apr 26, 2013 at 06:12 PM

Hi Claudia,
My flight is LH 411. Hope that is yours. Where will you be coming from? I live in the city. Yes, I will put a tag on my luggage
Claudia Wallingford Apr 27, 2013 at 03:10 PM

Yes, that is my flight. I am flying to NY on May 9 and staying at the New Yorker Hotel downtown.
Lorraine Fuchs May 02, 2013 at 10:01 PM

Would you like to meet for lunch Friday or Sat?
Claudia Wallingford May 04, 2013 at 01:08 PM

Yes. Either day would be fine. My cell is 907-242-5854.

Claudia Wallingford Apr 26, 2013 at 02:21 PM

Lorraine,
I think that is my flight. I don't have my ticket in front of me so I'll double check. It would be great to know someone on the flight. I will put the road scholar tag on my carry on. How about you?

Lorraine Fuchs Apr 23, 2013 at 03:17 PM

My name is Lorraine Fuchs. Interested in knowing if any one is leaving from JFK on May 13 5:40 pm?

Daisy Zell Mar 15, 2013 at 05:47 PM

This is going to be an awesome trip. So looking forward to it.

Daisy Zell Mar 12, 2013 at 02:55 PM

Going to Turkey May 21. Is anyone taking the balloon trip? We don't want to be the only people in our group doing this.
Eleanor Lonske Mar 15, 2013 at 09:40 AM

I signed up for it right before the balloon exploded in Egypt, but still plan to do it. /Ellie
Daisy Zell Mar 15, 2013 at 05:47 PM

Good, we(husband & I) will be happy to go. If it ends up being dangerous, WHAT A WAY TO GO!!!
Eleanor Lonske Mar 17, 2013 at 06:48 AM

The two people who survived in Egypt jumped. Always good to have a back-up plan!
Daisy Zell Mar 19, 2013 at 03:13 PM

Well, we'll start practicing jumping. It will be thrilling.
