I recently went on the trip and had the Bolshoi Platinum Class accommodation with a friend. I think that for the price ($$$$) you are better off going with the Bolshoi Class.

Thanks! What about the heat? Any air conditioning?

Any advice on the train categories? The prices and accommodations seem to vary widely. What to do?

Philip Pierce Aug 12, 2014 at 01:48 PM

My wife and I look forward to meeting you all. We arrive at Beijing one day early (8/28) and have arranged to visit a museum and some sites of interest. If not sooner, see you at 6:00 PM on 8/29 at the hotel.

Have tickets to go to a classic music concert at the "teardrop" the National center for the performing Arts in Beijing at 7:30pm 8/30. Anybody interested; 30 minute walk from hotel. Multiple times already in Beijing, so not too excited about setup visits, so may try visits to other places, like ex-Olympic sites, etc. Any others interested?
Look forward to meeting all, if Putin doesn't get too active.
Joann Orovitz Aug 09, 2014 at 12:53 AM

Have also been to Beijing several times. Concert is more appealing that Chinese Opera which I have already seen. Visiting the Olympic site very appealing also.
Joann Orovitz Aug 09, 2014 at 12:58 AM

Also, have you received your final packet from the Trip Provider?
Frank Yee Aug 09, 2014 at 06:04 PM

Yes, today. If you are interested in concert you can buy tickets in advance or wait til there. The extra wandering awaits what RS might think about it. Are you game to venture to see Mao's tomb, olympic stadium, etc.
Joann Orovitz Aug 10, 2014 at 02:05 AM

Still have not received my packet. I am arriving one day early in Beijing so will have the 29th free. Are you by chance a Californian?
