Does anyone know what month is the greatest expectation for seeing concentration of the "big five" and their prey? I just returned from the R.S. wild south africa trip and we saw all of them but few lions and, rhinos and a single leopard and not very active nor in hunting mode.We had an excellent time and were told we would see more on this trip or the Kenya one. Any thoughts?

If you go on this trip you will see the big five - plus the little 5. The Serengeti is big and the tour is adjusted to take into consideration the weather patterns. The guides will make sure you have every chance to see everything. When i went the animals were in places not usual for the "season" and we still saw all animals in abundance.

Has anyone been on this trip in February which I understand is during the rainy season but a time when animals are calving? How rainy was it?
Premium Email Subscriber Mar 26, 2015 at 04:34 PM

I was there in February. There was rain on a few days, but nothing that impeded our travels at all. There were no all-day rains, short showers during the day; longer ones at night.

My wife (Ruth W. Gerlach), a retired journalist and I (U. Henry Gerlach) a retired university teacher are signed up to go on the same trip. Have never been to Africa and are looking forward to it. Been with Road Scholar to several other places and independently in Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia. Met panda bears in China and koalas in New Zealand - but never giraffes, lions, etc. We are flying from Detroit to Amsterdam and on to Klimanjaro. Would we run into each other on t he flight? Greetings meanwhile, UHG & RWG lach)
