Frances...Hawaii's Humpback Whales trip sounds great! Just wanted to comment on the Aug program. The weather will be drier and maybe cooler. Nights and mornings could be very cool, but still very beautiful..just bring layers.

I was so impressed with your complete and thorough answers to my questions and the inclusion of a lot of additional helpful information. I'm thrilled with the prospect of attending but will probably sign up for the late August trip as I have registered for the January "Hawaii's Humpback's Whales" trip. I only just started traveling with RS this past September, on the "Victorian Primer in Cape May" and now it appears that I'm "addicted" to wonderful experiences that RS offers! To Frances...we are the program provider for this program and this is the first year we have run this program with all In-Park accommodations. It will be a wonderful time to visit Yellowstone as the weather is beginning to calm a bit. The temperatures this time of year can range from 40s to low 90s with possible seasonal rains or even snow. You are in the mountains and so the weather can change rapidly. Weather has never been a deterrent for our programs. The instructors are super at adjusting...just make sure you bring layers of clothing. You will always have the bus near to keep extra clothing. The instructors are extremely sensitive to the needs of the group and to the elevation changes that many will experience. They start slow so to acclimate everyone to the elevation. The hikes are moderate and there will not be much up hill climbing. The focus will be on the beauty surrounding you and enjoying the beauty. The instructor will again be very sensitive to the abilities of the group and there are many stops for interpretation of what you are seeing around you. If you are in good shape you should have no problem. You are to bring a water bottle and carry it at all times. There will be extra water on the bus, so you will never run out. There are also restrooms on the bus and the instructor will take needed bathroom breaks while traveling through the park. The instructor for this program is great and you will love her. I'm interested in signing up for end of June trip. Has anyone been on this trip during that time frame? I was wondering about the temperature and weather conditions. Was acclimating to the high elevation difficult? Is there a lot of uphill climbing? The description states that there is about 3.5 miles daily. Are there a lot of breaks and places to refill a single 20 oz. water bottle? What about public restrooms along the way? I'm in very good shape for my age and think I can handle it but would like some input from someone who's been there and done that. Thanks!
