Is this a good trip for solo travelers? What about the 2 person kayaks? How do they handle that?

My husband John and I are looking forward to attending this program the first week in September. It will be our first Road Scholar experience. Looking forward to meeting others that will be attending that week!

My comment keeps disappearing. So I will write it again. In the past they have provided headlamps. Bring all the extra stuff they suggest if you are driving. Accommodations are Spartan but very clean. I love this trip. Lolly Raphael

Ron and I are excited about our first kayak adventure with Road Scholar (Aug 23-28). It looks like our information packet is very complete with lists and descriptions. Other than adult beverages and bug spray, are there any other must haves that did not make the list? Looking forward to meeting fellow kayakers & instructors.

I am attending the Aug. 23028 Kayak trip. Wondering if anyone else is taking a train and bus. A little complicated to get there, but worth it. I will take Amtrak to Baltimore Aug. 22, then Greyhound to Salisbury, stay in Salisbury overnite and take the shuttle to Wallops Island Sunday.it beats the airplane from Connecticut which takes just as long with connections, etc. Looking forward to the trip, Lolly Raphael

Did you go solo? I would like to go solo on this trip in May 2016? Is it a good solo trip?

Thinking about taking this trip in August. Wondering if it will be too hot. Also, for those who traveled from western NY state, what driving route did you take? Thanks.

Make sure you take some booze and enjoy your fellow paddlers outside prior to dinner. Great trip. Have fun

Scheduled for the June 14-19th program. Anyone out there also scheduled? Purchased lots of stuff to bring. Wondering if anyone who's been on the trip can suggest 'must have' items not listed in the book.
Kate Wilson May 25, 2015 at 01:07 PM

Must haves: bug spray, sun screen, rain gear, kayaking gloves. I brought too many clothes.
Kate Wilson May 26, 2015 at 10:51 AM

...how could I forget! Beer, wine, or whatever your choice of adult beverage. The common room (adults only) has a refrigerator. And bring earplugs- we had a group of middle-schoolers above us the first few days and and buildings are anything but soundproof!
