Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

I plan to attend Lobsters, Wineries, Food program Sept 7-13 2014. I would appreciate any info on transportation from Providence to Newport. Also getting to see the mansions in Newport before or after the course.
Ellie Perry Mar 30, 2014 at 11:54 AM

Pearl, you're going to have a great time except . . . the airport shuttle was terrible. The elderly man at the desk confused very easily even tho there were only two of us waiting (and waiting, and waiting!). Suggest just hop a taxi. Share if you can. It's worth starting your adventure on a positive note. Don't know how many folks complained about the shuttle at the opening orientation. Hope that helps.

I went on the New England trip last week (10-6 to 10-12) and it was super! One problem -- I have a great pic of fellow-traveler, Marlene, at the Vodka Distillery but her email address bounces back. If anyone on the trip has her email addy, pls respond to this trip discussion board.

Anyone else heading to the "Lobsters, Wineries and Foods of New England" from October 12-20?
VIRGINIA TIMMINS Oct 08, 2013 at 03:25 PM

Hi, my name is Ginny! I'm heading your way next week, too! Really excited about it, as it will be my first trip with Road Scholar. Just spoke with my room mate last evening, and learned a little about her. I am driving from PA, and hope to be there by 3:30 or 4.
Linda L. Oct 08, 2013 at 10:10 PM

Hi Ginny, This is my first Road Scholar trip too! I'm flying into Providence (from Cleveland) with my parents on Saturday. We should arrive in Newport by mid-afternoon on Saturday. We plan a quick visit with my son (who lives in Providence) Sunday morning and he'll drive us to Newport. Looking forward to this trip, especially the "leaf-peeping!"
Linda L. Oct 08, 2013 at 10:11 PM

Ooops, we arrive in Newport midafternoon on Sunday...
