Dear Andrews and Kravotils: I bought tickets to the ballet in Bordeaux from the Opera National directly--without using scalpers. Can I do something similar with this?
Helen Andrew Oct 05, 2014 at 07:15 PM

Gordon, I believe the link included with my note goes to the official site for these tickets. In any event, it is the only site I have and they are not very expensive.

Helen Andrew Oct 04, 2014 at 12:08 PM

We'd like to recommend a performance of Mozart's Requiem at Sainte Chapelle on November 4, 2014 at 8:30. Tickets are about 30 Euro - worth it just to be in Sainte Chapelle.

I would be interested. Can they be bought when we get to Paris?
Helen Andrew Oct 05, 2014 at 07:15 PM

Helen Andrew Oct 05, 2014 at 07:16 PM

I don't know, Miriam, but we got them on line to be sure they were not sold out.

Geraldine Russell Oct 02, 2014 at 05:12 PM

Does anybody want to take the metro to St. Denis during free time in Paris? Great cathedral with violet and blue windows and effigies/tombs of most of the French monarchs. Haven't been there since I was young and wild and want to go back.
Miriam Stauff Oct 05, 2014 at 09:01 AM

Looking forward to meeting you, Geraldine. St. Denis is a fascinating church. I went on my own when I was on RS Independent Paris trip.

FYI--Oct. 16 Survey people: According to many, le Grand Theatre de Bordeaux is a spectacular building. It is not far from out hotel, and we have nothing scheduled for the evening of Oct. 24, so I bought a ticket to the ballet. There are still more seats available.

Thanks for this tip, Gordon. We have gotten tickets and have reservations for a late meal at Restaurant Jean Ramet. They normally don't take reservations after 9:30 but agreed to take us after the performance. Helen & Len Andrew, Jane & Joe Kratovil.
Gordon Smith Oct 06, 2014 at 12:00 AM

You're welcome. I was thinking of eating before the ballet at Le Petit Commerce. It's on the same st. as the hotel.
Gordon Smith Oct 07, 2014 at 03:27 PM

FYI--I did get a ticket to the Ste. Chapelle concert on Nov. 4--throgh Classictic.
Helen Andrew Oct 09, 2014 at 02:33 PM

Gordon, the link I sent if the site where I bought the tickets and it is called the Vienna Ticket Office. I haven't seen anything about Classictic.
Helen Andrew Oct 09, 2014 at 02:33 PM

Gordon Smith Oct 09, 2014 at 04:43 PM

Well, I have the ticket, and what is done is done. Anyone else buying tickets to a concert at the Ste. Chapelle needs to realize that two concerts are often schedules on the same evening. For Nov. 4, the best one with our schedule is at 8:30, not 7:00.

Gordon Smith Sep 20, 2014 at 09:12 AM

Russell, I will be on flight DL 8517. Maybe we can visit while we wait for the plane to take off. I know nothing about jazz clubs. Our stay in Paris is very brief, so there wont' be much time to explore, but that first evening after dinner looks pretty good for taking in the Marais.

Gordon Smith Sep 18, 2014 at 08:21 AM

I will be flying Delta from Atlanta on October 16 and will arrive in Paris at 8:10. Is there another participant on that flight?
Russell Baker Sep 19, 2014 at 01:17 PM

Think we are on the same flight, Gordon. Perhaps we could get together at the international gate.
Gordon Smith Sep 20, 2014 at 09:04 AM

I'll wear some Roadscholar identification. Maybe we can compare notes as we wait for the plane to board the plane.
Gordon Smith Sep 20, 2014 at 09:07 AM

Russell Baker Aug 11, 2014 at 05:12 AM

I'll be doing the October 16 trip and would like to do some of the jazz clubs in Paris. I'll do the research but am particularly interested in Le Caveau des Oubliettes and La Chope des Puces (Espace Django Reinhardt and Caveau de la Huchette

Gail Morman Aug 10, 2014 at 01:31 AM

Have signed up for the September 2014 trip. Wondering if anyone else is departing from San Francisco.
