Road Scholar
Program #18524RJ
11 Days | 10 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderately Challenging
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Jean in Florida
I'm thinking about taking this trip in 2013. What kind of camera do I need and do I need to bring a computer?
James Maddox Mar 31, 2013 at 01:21 PM

Did you sign up? I'm going on the May 5-15 Oregon Coast trip.
Jean Gilman Mar 31, 2013 at 03:02 PM

No, I'm not ready to move from my point and shoot to a new camera. Maybe next year. I am signed up for three RS trips this year, however.

I am enrolled in the Oregon Coast program and would like to avoid the single supplement. Are there any other women looking for a roommate? I use Canon cameras. I am married, but my spouse is not a photographer, so I am alone on this trip.
Dolores Rebovich Mar 27, 2011 at 03:13 PM

I am also on this trip (May 2011) and because the single sup was high I decided to ask RS to find me a roommate. I also use Cannon camera & lens.

I will be flying to Portland from Tampa, and I find I can hire a car (any number of people) for $160 to/from Astoria. Seems silly to rent a car to leave parked at the Holiday Inn! We can reduce the cost if anyone would like to join me. I do need to leave early on the 12th to catch a noon flight from PDX. If 8 people sign up, thats $20 per transfer!
Deborah Bundityanond Dec 27, 2009 at 03:51 AM

Hi Marianne Thanks for writing. Nice to hear from you. We are also joining the photo trip in Oregon. Our american address is New Smyrna beach, florida. Yes, we would like to share a car with you. What day are you flying in? am making our flight resv now. Please tell me when and where we meet (pdx)? and will book timing based upon hooking up. Is that round trip or one way? thanks and hope we can put things together Deborah and Paisan
