I took this trip in October, 2014. At the end we wanted to rent a car to drive to Philadelphia. But the rental places in Brunswick, near Jekyll Island, would not do one-way rentals. Ultimately we took a Greyhound bus from Brunswick back to Savannah, GA, where we'd been a few days earlier. First we had to take a cab from the Jekyll Island hotel to a Brunswick truck stop which served as the Greyhound station. Upon reaching Savannah, we had to take another cab to the car rental place. Eventually, I turned the car in at the Philadelphia airport. I got the Greyhound tickets in advance on line.

I may be sorry I'm going to try this. Just by reading all you've written it seems very confusing to get back at the end of this program.

I just read the daily schedule. if you are flying home from Jacksonville FL they will have bus service available for a fee.

On the trip starting Sept. 21. Plan to rent a car at Jekyll Island and drive to Lakeland, Florida through Jacksonville. Have one passenger already. Anyone interested in sharing the cost to Jacksonville airport with us.

Marilyn, this came to me even tho I did the trip LAST year... was a great trip tho...

After a month, it's obvious no one looks at the discussion board.

We took this trip in 2012. We took a limo from Jekyll Island to Jacksonville to fly home. Our group leader took a limo to Jacksonville to get a rental car. It is only 64 miles to Jacksonville Airport. If you can arrange to share a limo with other participants, it is probably the best (and only) solution.

I've searched this site to find how to contact someone involved with this program who can help me. I'm signed up for the Oct. 5-15 program. I'm flying into Charleston from the West Coast. After the program I want to get a ONE-WAY rental car to go to Philadelphia, via Wilmington, NC. While there are rental agencies in Brunswick, near Jekyll Island, they apparently don't do one-way rentals, at least not on line. So how can I get back to Charleston or somewhere big enough to have one-way rentals? Is there a bus, a train? How do staff members from Charleston get back? Could my wife and I hitch a ride for a fee? Of course I don't want to go 100 miles south to Jacksonville to rent a car. What do program staff members suggest? C&C Perkins

yes Charles, I agree... no one seems to look at this... I did the trip LAST year... was great trip. I can not help you with bus or train ideas back north... seems like someone from R. S. should have some input.... sorry...Sherrie--Seattle

Jill Holdaway Apr 21, 2014 at 06:35 PM

Hi Carol. I'm looking for a copy of the contact list if you have it. I need to contact someone on the trip who bought soap - didn't get a copy that last night. jillho1@yahoo.com

When does the shuttle leave for Jacksonville on April 16, 2014
Carol Connolly Mar 24, 2014 at 02:10 PM

We were told that it would leave mid-morning.
Sue Schierholtz Mar 24, 2014 at 06:45 PM

I called and was told shuttle would leave at 9am, but wait until we arrive at the island to make a reservation.
Carol Connolly Mar 24, 2014 at 10:31 PM

I just read that in the packet.
