Hi all! This is my first Road Scholar experience. Has anyone taken the 'A Toast to the Best of San Diego' tour? Let me know how you enjoyed it.
Cecelia Chandler Oct 24, 2015 at 05:16 PM

Barbara, you will absolutely LOVE it! I took this same trip in March of 2014. It has an unbeatable itinerary and the group leaders and guest lecturers were excellent, especially the one we had in Chicano Park! San Diego is a wonderful city and the whole program was very well organized. A class act from A to Z!

I'm staying an extra day on this program, not leaving until Sat., 9/26. Anyone else? Also anyone want to share a taxi to the hotel on 9/20? My flight arrives at 2:54 p.m.

I just enrolled in this program starting 9/20/15. Looking forward to visiting with others. I'm single, from Kansas City.

Susan, you will absolutely LOVE this program! I took this trip in 3/14. It is well organized and everything on the schedule is interesting! The weather in San Diego is drop dead gorgeous and the two group leaders were very pleasant and on top of their games! You can't miss! Have a great time!!!

I am coming to the Courtyard Marriott the night of March 15, with the program starting on the 16th? Anyone else will be there a day early? Meet for dinner on the 15th?
Cecelia Chandler Feb 24, 2014 at 05:37 PM

Neat idea to come a day early. Now I wish I had done that! :-) I would have loved to have joined you! Look forward to seeing you on the 16th, Ada!

Is anyone taking the Toast To San Diego Trip beginning 3/16/2014?

Rion Millen Oct 28, 2013 at 01:01 PM

I am so looking forward to this Toast...San Diego Rd Sch experience (11/3-11/13) that I am already 90% packed and it is a week away! This will be my 2nd R.S. adventure, and my husband's 4th, so we know we are in for a wonderful experience. We consider ourselves neighboring locals, since we are coming from Los Angeles Co. & have been to San Diego many times before, but we know it will be fun to leave the driving to RS and learn as we go in the company of experts and fellow adventurers. See you soon, Kathy Hendry and Rion Millen

Hi Rion,
Barbara Levine Jan 08, 2014 at 11:05 PM

I will be going on this trip in late Feb., 2014. Did you enjoy your trip 'Toast San Diego in Nov,'13? What did you like best and least? Where will you and Kathy travel to next?
Rion Millen Jan 10, 2014 at 06:26 PM

Hi Barbara,
Rion Millen Jan 10, 2014 at 06:36 PM

I enjoyed the entire presentation with some better than others (in my opinion). All of the presenters were quite knowledgeable and made the experience really fun. Several of the places we went to were too small for the size of our group (the Zoo and a restaurant in Little Italy for a wine tasting - I still enjoyed it though). Chicano Park was a pleasant surprise and I really enjoyed the Harbor Cruise (I'm ex-Navy so that appealed to me). A close second in enjoyment was another wine tasting at the hotel by a local winery that presented a lot more info than I have ever heard before - don't skip this one. The Hotel Del was quite marvelous, but there was a major event going on so a few places there were not available for touring. I'm sure I'm missing some little tidbit but it was a very nice trip.
