Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Have registered for this Denali and Kenai trip for August 31, 2014, and while I've selected option 2 for now, would prefer option 1 if I can find a friendly roomie.

I'm so excited about this trip, even though it's more than a year off. As a nature and wildlife photography nut, I can't think of another place I'd rather be with my camera.

Go for it Anne! I had a very good roommate on the Alaska trip which I just returned from on the 7th of June. Always have good luck with my roommates. It is a beautiful trip and should be quite green for you in August. In May-June it was just starting to green up.

Thank you Priscilla. Alaska has been at the top of my "bucket list" for as long as I can remember, and I'm so excited!! Glad to hear you enjoyed the trip. Did you take the train to Denali? I'm thinking of flying to Anchorage and taking the train from there (the upgraded service)

I took this trip last year in August. It was more beautiful than I imagined. Anyone going should have a great time. Be sure to pack a camera. Denali did not fully come out from the clouds the day we were there, but she showed enough of herself so we could see her majesty.

Joyce,

I fly into Fairbanks on the 12th and take the train to Denali on the 14th. I will spend the 12th and 13th at the Hampton Inn in Fairbanks so I looks like we miss each other in Fairbanks. I look forward to meeting you on the 14th.

I'll be taking the bus up to Denali on 26th. Arriving at Anchorage the day before. See you there.

I am going on the Alaska's National Parks trip on June 9th and would like to meet other people going on this trip.
Angeline Skjold Mar 16, 2013 at 06:29 PM

My husband, Chris, and I will be on this trip. We'll arrive in Anchorage the day before and will take the train up to Denali.
Diane Mulvey Mar 17, 2013 at 11:19 AM

Glad to meet you! I live in NJ and this will be my 1st trip to Alaska. I've arranged to take the van up to Denali, although the train trip will probably be more interesting. Have you been on Road Scholar trips before? T
Angeline Skjold Mar 18, 2013 at 07:55 AM

This will be our first trip to AK and first trip with Road Scholar. A friend took this trip a year ago and recommended it.

Elizabeth Guthrie Feb 05, 2013 at 01:48 PM

My friend Nina and I will be taking the Denali & Kenai trip August 11-22. We plan to spend two days in Anchorage beforehand and then take the train to Denali on the 11th. Would be interested to hear from others who plan to be on that train or who have done this previously.

I took my trip May-June 2012. It was wonderful. Have not saved enough yet for another one so soon. Have a good time, hope you find a travel partner.
