See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

I'm flying in from Minneapolis, MN and arriving around 1 PM. Anyone else on this flight?
Linda Campeau Sep 21, 2014 at 05:02 PM

Coming in around noon from Milwaukee. Look for me at the shallow end of the pool, working on my water aerobics.
Cynthia Mokma Sep 22, 2014 at 08:55 PM

Will do as soon as I check in! I'll be tired but a little time around the pool sounds great!
Carol Eagle Sep 26, 2014 at 10:03 PM

I arrived here yesterday. The hotel is nice & the staff is very friendly. I may join you at the pool on Sunday...not sure what I'll be doing then. I was in the pool for awhile this afternoon. Pool area is nice with tables on a patio...good for socializing outdoors. See you soon.
Linda Campeau Sep 26, 2014 at 11:10 PM

Happily the flight from Milwaukee will arrive on time, after the disruption at Chicago. See you all Sunday!
Cynthia Mokma Sep 27, 2014 at 12:01 PM

Praying everything goes smoothly for all of us who are flying!!!
Carol Eagle Sep 27, 2014 at 08:30 PM

Yes, I am praying that all of you arrive safely with no problems. I'm getting lonely being here by myself. Can't wait to get with the group.

Karen Simpson Sep 13, 2014 at 09:05 PM

Hi everyone. I'm traveling alone on this trip (9/28). So excited about seeing this area again. My late husband and I just saw the sights from the car so I'm anxious to get in to Mesa Verde more in depth. See you all soon. It is so nice to know I won't be alone!!
Linda Campeau Sep 14, 2014 at 09:55 AM

Looking forward to meeting you Karen.
Cynthia Mokma Sep 14, 2014 at 12:19 PM

Looking to meeting all of you! I've been to Sedena or Grand Canynon but never to this part of the US. My travel agent is from this area and she was so excited for me. She said it will be wonderful!!
Cynthia Mokma Sep 14, 2014 at 12:47 PM

Hooray! Two weeks until we begin this adventure!
Carol Eagle Sep 16, 2014 at 03:13 PM

Yes, not much longer. Not looking forward to the early AM flight out there, but once that is over it should be an awesome vacation.
Linda Campeau Sep 16, 2014 at 05:27 PM

I agree, since we have to be at the airport at 4:30 am, but we will be at the hotel by noon or so, hopefully

Cynthia Mokma Sep 10, 2014 at 10:44 PM

Hi everyone! I will also be going on the Four Corners trip Sept. 28-Oct. 5. Looking forward to it as I'm also a newbie!

Looking forward to meeting Cynthia and Carol. The scenery I have looked a t for some of the stos is beautiful. fFrst time with RS and "Out West"!

Linda Campeau Sep 10, 2014 at 02:43 PM

Anybody going on the Four Corners trip Sept.28 - Oct. 5
Carol Eagle Sep 10, 2014 at 09:35 PM

Yes, I am in that program. It should be a great learning experience. I took the Sedona/Grand Canyon program sponsored by NAU a few years ago & it was very well organized.
Mary Quartuccio Sep 13, 2014 at 10:48 AM

Because my husband and I are doing the Grand Canyon/Verde Canyon train trip thru RS and will be in the Sedona area a few days early, any recommendations for must do's?
Carol Eagle Sep 13, 2014 at 04:50 PM

Since I stayed in Phoenix for a few days beforehand I wasn't on my own in Sedona at all. I went up to Sedona in a van with a couple who were in the same program. The driver left us in Prescott on our own for about an hour on Whiskey Row. We had a drink at a historic bar & looked in some shops. Looked like an interesting town to explore if we'd had longer. On the way to Sedona we passed thru Jerome, a cute little arty village. If you have a car & feel like driving thru the mountains, you might want to go there. It was 1 of my favorite RS programs...just 9 of us in the group!

Linda Campeau Aug 21, 2014 at 10:26 PM

Diane and Carol, Are you going on the trip Sept.28 - Oct. 5? This is my first RS trip too. Really looking forward to it. Linda Campeau
Diane Stevens Aug 22, 2014 at 08:18 AM

I'm in the week before you, September 21-28. But I'm glad to hear I am not the first RS newbie.
Linda Campeau Aug 22, 2014 at 03:53 PM

OOh, cool! Maybe you could let me know how you liked the program before I go.
Diane Stevens Aug 22, 2014 at 05:53 PM

If you are starting on the 28th, I'm leaving that day...we may cross paths in the airport in Albuquerque. Are you going to use hiking/trekking poles?
Linda Campeau Aug 22, 2014 at 11:24 PM

No, I was not planning on using poles, how about you? In the photos i have looked at for this trip, not too many people have poles.
Linda Campeau Aug 24, 2014 at 05:45 PM

Coming from Milwaukee at 11:10 or so, so you guys won't even be off the bus when we are calling the hotel, but maybe we will be on a future trip together. Have a great week.

Diane Stevens Aug 04, 2014 at 11:00 AM

This is my first Road Scholar trip. Anyone else a first timer? I'm travelling as a single. Any opinion about using hiking poles?
Carol Eagle Aug 08, 2014 at 02:29 PM

Hi Diane, I am a very experienced Road Scholar participant. Have been traveling solo since my husband passed away in '06 &have never felt alone in the group. Looking forward to meeting you. This should be a fun & interesting trip.
Mary Weber Sep 11, 2014 at 01:14 PM

Hi, Diane and Carol. This will be my second RS trip. Did Death Valley two summers ago and really enjoyed it I'm traveling solo also. Looking forward to meeting both of you. PS: Not packing hiking poles.
Carol Eagle Sep 11, 2014 at 09:46 PM

No, hiking poles shouldn't be needed for the type of walking we'll be doing. So looking forward to getting out there & meeting everyone.

Beth Tripp Sep 27, 2013 at 01:18 PM

Since we are going to National Parks, will there be any issues if the government/congress doesn't get their act together? Would the parks be closed?
Ann Ercelawn Sep 27, 2013 at 04:22 PM

I just asked RoadScholar this question. Apparently they have contingency plans in place, so we'll still see the area. Ann
Ann Ercelawn Sep 27, 2013 at 04:32 PM

Beth, I apologize; this was in reference to a different trip to the national parks. I suggest that you call RS. Ann
Helen Sternheim Sep 27, 2013 at 04:43 PM

If a budget isn't passed the national Paks will be closed. What date is your trip?
Beth Tripp Sep 27, 2013 at 09:04 PM

Sept. 29th. 4 corners area.
Theresa Cangelosi Sep 28, 2013 at 10:46 AM

It is Saturday so I can't get through, but does anyone have information as to whether or not the parks will be closed?
James Beneteau Sep 28, 2013 at 11:27 AM

James Beneteau Sep 28, 2013 at 11:27 AM

I admit to significant disappoint with RS; they can send out dozens of advertisements for additional trips but don't seem to be able to provide rather important information like this.

Theresa Cangelosi Sep 24, 2013 at 04:21 PM

Hello Everyone, The Sept. 29th trip to the Four Corners is my 1st Road Scholar experience. I am traveling solo also, as my husband finds this sort of thing way too stressful. I'm excited about meeting all of you, and know we'll all have a great time together. Terri Cangelosi
Mary Taylor Sep 24, 2013 at 07:00 PM

My first Road Scholar trip, too. FIrst trip to the desert, as well. What an adventure
Diane Stevens Jul 22, 2014 at 02:35 PM

My first trip too. I have been to the Southwest several times on personal trips, but it's been years since I've seen the Four Corners area...50 years actually. I am traveling solo as my significant other overheats in the desert and is not fond of hiking/climbing ladders. I've vowed to do the active RS trips myself!
Diane Stevens Jul 22, 2014 at 02:36 PM

Whoa! Signs of a newbie...posted 2014 in a 2013 section!
