Jo Ann Raine Apr 04, 2013 at 09:41 AM

just bought our plane tickets from Houston. Arriving at 2pm Monday. Are there other girls on this trip? JoAnn
Susan Allen Apr 07, 2013 at 01:41 PM

Thanks, Jo Ann. What airline are you taking, and did you get a good fare? I'm using TripAdvisor to alert me to good prices, but I haven't really gotten into the research for that yet. Thanks.
Susan Allen Apr 15, 2013 at 04:42 PM

Jo Ann - I got our plane resvns. last week. We fly from Kansas City to Houston and then get that United flight that leaves at 11:32 am, arrives at 2:12 pm, too! Also - we decided to stay an extra night at the Wyndham hotel, so we're not going back until Thurs., July 25. Looking forward to our trip, and I'm sure we can meet up in Houston!

Linda Woodhead Apr 04, 2013 at 08:19 AM

Is anyone leaving from Atlanta on July 15? I'm coming with my 14 year old grandson.
Susan Allen Apr 07, 2013 at 01:43 PM

Hi, Linda! My nephew is coming with me, and he's 14 also. I haven't done my good research yet for flights. Did you get a good fare, and what airline? Did you use one of the travel websites? Thanks.
Linda Woodhead Apr 08, 2013 at 08:03 AM

I used the Road Scholar travel agent. Holbrook Travel. The contact there is Etel Castillo, 800-866-7111, extension 323. She doesn't respond very quickly, but she's helpful when she finally does get in touch with you. I'm getting the same fare I could have gotten on my own, but if you use Holbrook someone meets you at the airport in Costa Rica and your airport transfers are included.
Catherine Ledingham Apr 24, 2013 at 08:49 AM

Hi Linda, My grandson Ben (13) and I are travelling from Vancouver through Dallas on the 15th, arriving Costa Rica on AA at about 7:30pm. We also used Holbrook.

Margaret Woellner Feb 08, 2013 at 07:46 PM

Hi, it was g great trip. Both of us really enjoyed it. But it was not the bonding experience I had had on trips with other grand children, since the kids spent most of their time with other kids. If you want a close experience with your grandchild I suggest you talk with other grandparents and set an early curfew time together. This would give time for your granddaughter to share her day with you. Margaret Woellner
Jo Ann Raine Feb 08, 2013 at 08:37 PM

Thanks for that clue. Liz is shy so I will get more time with her in the evenings. It will be a test for us to see if she blends in with the teen group. JoAnn

My nephew Rolly and I are going on the July 15th trip. He is 14, and we're from Kansas City.
Jo Ann Raine Feb 04, 2013 at 08:18 PM

Great. Liz goes to school in Medfield Ma near Boston and is 14 nearing 15. Glad to have some boys along. I am a birder and have been to CR several times. It is beautiful JoAnn Raine
Susan Allen Feb 04, 2013 at 08:29 PM

I'd like to know and share interests and general information about grandparents and grandchildren going to Costa Rica on July 16 (program 3636).I'm new to this discussion board and wonder if it would be easiest for us to share emails since this board seems to cover everyone going any time on any trip. Peg Woellner
Annie Phillips Jun 30, 2012 at 11:53 AM

Hi, Peg. I'm going on that trip with my grandson, who's 13. We live in Seattle. My name is Annie Phillips. My email is felicity@nwlink.com What's yours?
