I am considering this trip. Does this trip require Kayak experience. I have done some hiking but my arms are less used to strong exercise.
Regina D. Dec 28, 2015 at 06:41 AM

On the river ride, you are in a two person kayak, watching and listening for wildlife at your own pace. On the sea kayaking day, you have a choice on whether to paddle in a 2 person kayak, or in a larger outrigger with 8 people. No experience was needed, but try to partner up with someone that has it and you'll be more relaxed.
Mike Chesnut Dec 28, 2015 at 08:22 PM

I second Regina's comments, no prior experience needed but you will need some moderate abilities and a little athletic ability to enter and exit kayaks. One hike is moderate in difficulty due to wet and muddy trails and a couple of steep areas.

Question about vaccinations. Anything special? I already have tetanus. Thanks, Charlene
Mike Chesnut Dec 13, 2015 at 11:22 PM

No need for any vaccinations other than those you need for USA. We had no problems with the water either but some on our group did drink some bottled water.

The rain forest trails were often muddy and steep, I used my poles. Snorkle gear was provided on our West Coast seashore kayaking.
Judy Kaigin Nov 21, 2015 at 12:14 PM

Thanks! I have just read that my high top hiking boots are not necessary. I havelow top Teva walking shoes- is that enough?
Regina D. Nov 23, 2015 at 05:20 PM

My sister has been in Costa Rica this week, and while wet is having a wonderful time. She suggests bringing Hand Wipes for quick clean ups out in the field, and exercise capri's in lieu of cotton fabrics as they will dry faster. Also dramamine if you are prone to motion sickness in the long car rides or on the hanging bridges.

Judy Kaigin Nov 20, 2015 at 10:28 PM

Wondering if the hiking is steep/rocky enough to warrant bringing my trekking poles. Anybody know? Does anyone know about the scuba diving in CR? I know it is possible, is It worth bringing mask/snorkle?

Larry Landgraf Nov 20, 2015 at 09:40 PM

I guess I need to make my comments up here so they aren't lost in the confusion below.

Judy Kaigin Nov 20, 2015 at 09:26 PM

Will anyone be leaving from Houston-10:22 AM on Dec. 5?

Mike Chesnut Oct 29, 2015 at 11:22 PM

Will anyone be on the 9:55 Am flight from Atlanta Monday to San Jose?
Peggy Campbell Oct 31, 2015 at 08:39 AM

Yes. Dave and Peg Campbell.
Mike Chesnut Oct 31, 2015 at 10:04 AM

Great. Looking forward to the trip.

We're arriving 1/11/16 @ 2:30 pm on American, and would share a ride with someone arriving close to this.
