We're going on the Sept. 30th trip but will spend 3 days in Naples before joining the group. Anyone else going to be in Naples early?

Hi Carolyn, i'm considering this trip for next year. The only thing that's stopping me is that I've never heard anything good about Naples. What was your impression of the city?
Carolyn Villamil Oct 26, 2014 at 04:34 PM

We loved it. So sorry we didn't stay longer. Stay in the Chiaia area. Hire a private guide for a walking tour of the old city.

We're scheduled for this trip Oct. 14 flying out of Greensboro, NC, Charlotte, then JFK. Anyone else from our area going? Patrick & Jeannette Davies

This is our first road scholar trip and are interested in who else may be joining the Sept.30 tour. Dick and Syl Chapel Hill, NC

We will be on the tour with you. We are retirees from Florida (in the winter) and Maine (in the summer). This will be our third Road Scholar trip. Our first was in 2004 to New Zealand and Austrailia. On that tour we met our good friend Shirley from upstate NY. She will be on the Amalfi tour as well. We look forward to meeting you. Julie and Martin Kauffman

I'm going solo on September 16, 2014 from Washington Dulles airport. I'd love to know if anyone else is going on that date from the Wash DC area. I live in the Maryland suburbs.

Is anyone else flying out of JFK on May 6, 2014?

My wife and I made this trip during September of 2012 and absolutely loved it. Our guide and the people she brought in for leading tours or presenting various facets of Italian culture were all first class. The accommodations were very satisfactory. And, best of all, the scenery is spectacular. We've taken several Road Scholar trips and this ranks at the top. Have a great time!

Thanks for the encouraging words Larry. Although Bill and I are very excited about this upcoming trip, your assesment increases our anticipation. Sharlene

My husband Bill and I are preparing to join a group for our first Road Scholar adventure. We are wondering if anyone else is departing from the St. Louis, MO airport on Tuesday May 6, 2014? Also, is there someone who had taken this journey to Sorrento and what helpful information can you share with us?

FABULOUS!!! I visited Sorrento last Oct. and it may be the best trip I have ever been part of. The group leader (Jan) is wonderful; she is nuturing yet encourages independence. On a free day a group of us climbed Mt. Vesuvius and Jan's directions made getting there so easy. Sorrento and Amalfi are very safe to walk around, even at night. If you are traveling through Naples be very aware that there can be problems; keep your travel wits about you. The Road Scholar groups are friendly and out-going; I travel as a single and never feel left out. Most participants are very educated and the conversations are most engaging. ENJOY!!!!
William Morgan Apr 23, 2014 at 09:47 AM

Thank you Donna. We are getting more excited about this trip every day. Also appreciate the "heads up" about Naples. Always good advice to remember. Happy to learn you have so many wonderful memories! Sharlene

Hi Amy, I am going on the same trip that interests you, but my trip will be in May. I have been told by the folks at Road Scholar that the groups are welcoming and inclusive,of people like me,who wil be traveling solo. I have done much traveling but never to this part of Italy, and never on a tour where I know no one else (at least, not yet). I am glad I will be with lots of new people, but also will have a room of my own . While I hope to connect with at least one other person before the trip, I suspect it will be pretty easy to meet others once we all gather. I hope that you make some connections before you travel and that you have a great time. Laura Reiter
