I'm disappointed that on this trip the hotel is OUTSIDE the walls. I was going to go in spring 16 until I read that. I went on the "Tuscany Cooking" trip and a highlight was being INSIDE the walls, a major reason being, that in the evenings you could step out the doors and join the promenade. Id would appreciate anyone who is going on this trip sharing their opinion of the accomodations. (And yes, I know it is "just across the street, but I can't see where it will be the same experience having been in Lucca several times.

Weather sites suggest mild with some rain. Google "weather in Tuscany,"

We will be on the "Classic Tuscany..." trip Oct. 18. Would like to hear from others. Anyone else from Denver?

Gail McCain Jul 21, 2015 at 11:19 AM

I am considering this trip for Oct. 18 after the Hidden Villages of Tuscany trip which ends Oct. 17. I am a solo traveler. Would like to hear from others going. Thanks.

Thinking seriously of going to Tuscany in October. I've been to Florence many times, and spent an afternoon in Sienna. Am really interested in Lucca. Looking for possible roommate. I speak some Italian and better French.

Hi Roberta. Lucca is wonderful - period. The people are lovely. There are terrific little street art fairs and the food is marvelous. My second favorite is Sienna, particularly in October which is boar hunting season. I have bee there a umber of times and always find it magical particularly when viewing the butcher shops in said boar season. Florence these days makes me rather sad. There are many tourists, many emigrants and MUCH graffiti. Howevere who would be a fool enough not to be in Florence for a short time. When were you thinking now of going. I am going to Cuba in Noveber but the pull of Lucca and sienna is very very strong

Thank you for the info. I agree about Florence. The last time I was there I entertained myself observing what the other tourists from various nations were ordering in restaurants. Still deciding between Italy or Paris. I spent a month in France last year.

Luca and Sienna are still on my list!
Roberta Monahan Jul 11, 2015 at 03:03 PM

Just attended a lecture at the Italian Cultural Institute about Sienna and learned that it is rare to find a trip that would spend 4 nights in Sienna.I think the universe is prompting me to go to Lucca and Sienna.

Luca would not disappoint. I stayed there with RS a year ago on the Cooking in Tuscany. I cannot wait to go back. I had been looking in sept early October that included Sienna since I'm going to Cuba w RS in November but a

Hello to all going on the Sept 27-Oct 10 trip to Tuscany/Florence. Anyone flying from DC?
Donna Florence Aug 27, 2015 at 10:08 AM

Unfortunately, I am having to defer my trip to next year. Have fun!

Nancy Andriuk Jun 19, 2015 at 05:57 PM

Hello to the group who is going to this Tuscany/Florence trip on Sept 13-26. No news, just saying hello and take care, Nancy

barbara cronin Apr 15, 2015 at 11:43 PM

Shorts acceptable? But why? Then again it probably will be ok - Italians, have a high tolerance for foreigners' fashion foibles EXCEPT when it culturally offends. But do not fear it will immediately be brought to your attention
