Hi my name is Rich Romero, I live in San Luis Obispo county. I will be leaving for my trip to Classic Tuscany and treasure of Florence on May 5, 2014 and I will also be going to Rome on May 18th. This will be my first tip to Europe. I am looking for a room mate, I hope I can find one who live in the San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara county area. My email rjromero@att.net

Hi There! We are going on the May 5th tour. We would love to hear from anyone else who is going. Also any suggestions on what we should pack...i.e. sneakers, heels? Dressy outfit for the opera? Thanks!
Suzanne Head Apr 15, 2014 at 09:48 AM

COMFORTABLE SHOES....most important. You walk, and you walk, and you walk you stand, you stand, and you stand and then you walk!!
Susanne Barker Apr 16, 2014 at 07:49 AM

Thanks, Suzanne! I think I'll bring my less attractive but comfy shoes for sure! Did wear casual outfits most of the time?

Any single women going on this tour May 18th? Sure hope so. Mickey Hazzlerigg from San Antonio, TX

Hi, Barbara. I have signed up for the 9/22-10/04 trip, but would consider going earlier. I, too, am looking for a roomie. I'd be flying out of NYC. My email address is: ajohnson@rochester.rr.com

I am on the May 5th trip, travelling out of Tampa. I am travelling solo and since this is my first Road Scholar trip am not sure how you go about "advertising" for a compatible roomie. I'm easy going, have travelled a fair amount and learned that flexibility is the key most times! Non smoker please, but a sense of humor would be highly valued!
Suzanne Head Dec 30, 2013 at 05:09 PM

I was on this tour last year, and it is one of the best. You do not need to get your own roomie,
Suzanne Head Dec 30, 2013 at 05:12 PM

whoops....RS will get one for you. I have generally had very good luck with them finding my roomie. The only suggestion I have is to stay longer in Florence. 3 days is not nearly long enough. I stayed at Hotel Corona for another 4 nights, which was perfect. Then I took a train to Padua to do a RS trip of Padua and Venice. Could not have been better. Enjoy it, and I know you will. Suzanne

My husband John and I are in the 10/13 program. We'd like to get to know those with us. One of the leaders, Laura Johnson is from here, Rockford, IL. We don't think we know her, but interesting.
Roxane Murray Sep 26, 2013 at 01:13 PM

Hi, Ruth! (Or do you prefer Ruth Ann?) My husband Mike and I will be in your group. We live in Albuquerque now, but Mike's mom was from Rockford, and we used to go past there when we lived in Madison and were driving to Chicago.
Ruth Ann Molyneaux Oct 08, 2013 at 10:57 PM

Hi, Roxane, I've just learned how to get to my specific program to meet people. I'm looking forward to meeting you. I do prefer Ruth Ann, as Ruth was my mother's name. John and I have friends living near Albuquerque, so we

(Sorry hit the wrong key) Anyway, we've visited out there a couple of times. I love NM! I've tried to read about our trip, but haven't even skimmed the surface of the material! I just received yesterday the Art of the Renaissance book. I've enjoyed reading about the Medici family and was awed by what they were and how much was accomplished during that period. Can't wait to see the art.
Ruth Ann Molyneaux Oct 08, 2013 at 11:04 PM

My favorite books are Seven Seasons in Siena (I didn't know I'd like a book about horse racing!) and Brunelleschi's Dome, which was a joy to read.

Karen Middaugh Sep 07, 2013 at 02:14 PM

My husband Dick and I are enrolled in the 9/29 program and would enjoy getting acquainted with other people going at the same time. We have added a day in Florence to see the Pitti Palace and other places that intrigued us on our first trip for New Year's 2012. We also see that familiar guides will be on this trip— Marco Ceccarani in Florence and Umberto in Carrara. We are looking forward to it. Karen Middaugh
William McBee Sep 10, 2013 at 07:54 PM

My wife Julia and I are also adding time in Florence. Look forward to meeting you
