Somebody asked about outerwear, but now I can't find the query.

I recommend a waterproof (not just water-resistant) rain jacket or rain coat with a hood. A water-resistant jacket or coat will soak right through. If your rain coat has a hood, you can dispense with a hat, and usually dispense with an umbrella, too, unless the rain is torrential. A somewhat longer length (e.g. low hip, or down to the thighs) will keep you dryer. It's best if your jacket or coat fits loose enough to wear over a sweater.
I bought a Columbia brand rain jacket; Columbia is one of the few manufacturers that make truly waterproof jackets in larger sizes.

Just got back from this trip. There were 'home dinners' (where a family picks up 4 of you each and take you to their house for dinner), if you want to bring a small gift from home, as a token thank you (they are paid for it).
Luanne ONeill Dec 04, 2015 at 07:51 PM

Thanks! Good to know.

This is listed as a "Small Group" Trip. How many on your trip?
Paula Baker Oct 19, 2015 at 12:19 AM

I think we had 25-28, but the tour had a different name two years ago (April, 2013)

Question: It is Saturday and the office won't be open until Tuesday. Are the prices on the Canadian site quoted in US dollars or Canadian? Thanx

Anne Brackett Sep 26, 2015 at 06:40 PM

Practical question-do the rooms in the hotels we stay in have blow-dryers??
Jana Dunn Sep 27, 2015 at 07:58 PM

I know they change the hotels they use sometimes, but there were hairdryers in all the hotels we stayed at last summer. The hairdryer is usually not in the bathroom, but in a drawer in the main part of the room.
Mary Koch Oct 02, 2015 at 11:46 PM

You can look at the hotel's website and it will tell you. We went in May of this year and they all had them.

My wife, Kathy, and I are going on the Sept 18 trip. We are trying to read Ulysses. Tough going.Anybody else trying to read it or finding other good things to read or watch? thanks... Brett Smith, Minneapolis
Marjorie Wright Sep 06, 2015 at 09:50 AM

I had to take a college class in order to read Ulysses! (it was worth it) But do try the Joyce's short story collection: Dubliners. And there is an excellent movie of one of the greatest of the Dubliners stories: The Dead. Try those.
Marjorie Wright Sep 06, 2015 at 09:53 AM

correction: not "the Joyce's short..etc." Just:" try Joyce's short story collection...

I watched a 5 episode series entitled, "The Story of Ireland." It was based on a book by an Iriish journalist. Sweeping historical overview. Well-done video and very readable book.
Geoff Mcauliffe Sep 06, 2015 at 05:15 PM

Try a synopsis such as Cliff's Notes.

I am curious about the luggage handling situation. I've been having some shoulder issues and storing things overhead presents a challenge for me right now. Will we have help loading luggage onto and off of our transport? Thanks!
Marjorie Wright Sep 01, 2015 at 02:53 PM

Yes, there is help with luggage. You would have to put your carry on stuff overhead in the bus. If not crowded, you could set carry on on an empty seat. Also you will find that your guide and co-travelers are always helpful!
Linda Musun Sep 01, 2015 at 03:48 PM

Thanks! This helps me decide which carryon piece to bring.
