Is an adapter needed in order to plug American electrical devices into the Italian hotel electrical sockets?
Paul Tedesco Oct 02, 2015 at 02:54 PM

Yes an adapter is needed. It need to convert 220 volts to 110 volts and to change 50 cycles per second to 60 cycles per second. Warning: do not use with power tools, computers, fax machines, tvs vcrs sterios. It is good for charging iphones, ipods, camera/camcorder chargers, shavers, tape recorders....

Thank you.

Hi everyone! It's fun to meet some of you online---and soon, in person. I understand from Road Scholar our group will be about 30. I'm a recently retired college professor traveling solo this time. I'm arriving 4 days early in Rome (to get over jet lag!) and will meet up with a friend there for those 4 days. My biggest challenge: packing light! Buon viaggio!

Neelima Gokhale Oct 01, 2015 at 04:02 PM

Hi Jane, I am taking the same trip leaving on Oct. 24 from Dulles.
Looking forward to meet ing you. my friend Deborah from Nj is also taking the same tour.

Going on the Best of Italy trip from October 31 to November 13. Would like to know who else is going and share backgrounds etc.
Elizabeth Turner Sep 13, 2015 at 09:08 PM

Hi Paul - Elizabrth Turner here, recently retired banker, will be on the same trip, along with my partner John Carroll, retired Columbia University administrator. We live in New Jersey and this will be our first trip to Italy.

My wife Janice and I had one trip to Italy earlier. We stayed in Scicily for 2 weeks. My wife is a jeweler making glass beads, neclases, earrings.... I have worked in data processing for 50+ years. Looking forward to the trip and meeting with the participants.

Going as a solo traveler to the Best of Italy in the spring. Many solos travel with Road Scholar?
Judy Simonson Aug 21, 2015 at 12:46 PM

I went as solo in April and it was great. There were a few solos in single accommodations, some solos but traveling with friends, and non-solos and they were all friendly and fun to be with in free time, etc. No problem at all. Enjoy your trip.

Ernest Ed Englehardt Aug 18, 2015 at 04:45 PM

Hi - Ed and Nancy here. we are going on the best of Italy trip Sep 19 - Oct 2nd. This will be our first Road Scholar trip and was wondering how many persons usually travel together on this program?
Neil Ciarfalia Aug 19, 2015 at 12:10 PM

My brother & I went on the same trip about a year ago. The group was about 30 in total, mostly independently couples, pairs (or trios) of friends traveling together. We had a wonderful time…enjoy your trip.
