I'm bringing my (almost!) 9 year old granddaughter on this vacation July 25. Would love to hear from others who are going! Cora and I are flying to Shannon from Portland, OR.

I'm Katie I'm 11 years old and turning 12 on the 28th. I am going with my grandmother. I'm from Ridgewood New Jersey

Only a couple more weeks to go before this trip..Is there anyone else out there leaving from the Ohare Airport/Midwest?
Joyce Mallory Jun 14, 2015 at 04:11 PM

My granddaughter and I are going out of O'Hare in Chicago.. Joyce
Joyce Mallory Jun 14, 2015 at 04:17 PM

Sara is 13 and lives in Michigan. I will fly up from Texas to MI and then we have a flight into Chicago on the 6th of July.
Monica Jun 15, 2015 at 08:25 AM

Thank you Joyce for contacting us. Our grandson Ben who is also 13, is very excited to be going with his grandfather.. Sounds like you may be on the same flight to Shannon on United flight 66 leaving Ohare at 6:15pm. Here's a tip, my husband was talking with a gal from Cork yesterday and she said it can be rainy and cool there and to dress for it, bring an umbrella, long pants and shorts..kinda like the weather we get here in Wisconsin and Michigan. That Itinerary sounds like so much fun. Thanks for your response. Have a safe trip to Michigan and Chicago.
Joyce Mallory Jun 15, 2015 at 04:23 PM

Monica, we are also on the 6:15 flight out of Chicago. I also have been warned about the rainy weather by a friend who has previously taken her grand daughter on this trip. She says the guides warned students not to plan on wearing shorts when it's raining as it is also cooler. Rain gear a necessity. She loved the activities as did her grand daughter.

Monica, I am not paying attention well enough. Charlie and I changed our plans to go on the July 4-18 trip to Italy. I must remove my post from the Ireland site. A missed opportunity to make friends! I have been to Ireland several times, always a joy. My roots are there too. Have a wonderful trip.
Monica Feb 03, 2015 at 06:24 PM

Sorry to hear that Jane...thanks for the remarks about Ireland, I'm sure the boys will love it.

Monica, thank you for your response. My name is Jane Hense. I'm from Illinois and my grandson Charlie is from St. Louis. He will be so happy to hear that another 13 year old will be on our trip. This is our first Road Scholar trip and we are so looking forward to it.
Monica Jan 25, 2015 at 10:07 AM

Hi Jane, Good to know that there will be another teen boy going to the program. We are from Wisconsin just west of Milwaukee. We have been on several RS programs and never been disappointed but this will be Ben's first. He too is very excited about seeing Ireland since he is so proud of his Irish roots.

My granddaughter Emma, almost 11, and I will arrive at Shannon Airport on July 1st. We are traveling from Boston. Emma personally selected this trip 2 years ago! I have a lot of grandkids, so she had to get in line. I've done 5 intergenerational trips with Roadscholar, and they have all been marvelous. We look forward to another great trip.

Anyone else concerned about the news regarding the protests planned for June 17-18 in Dublin and other areas, in connection with the G-8 Summit on those dates in Northern Island. I just received an e-mail from the US Embassy Dublin. Hopefully all will be settled down by July 1!!!
Paul Heslin Jun 14, 2013 at 03:05 PM

I don't think we are anywhere near the protest. I am sure program people will make sure we are safe. This is our 10 trip never been close to a problem Relax enjoy !
