I was very interested in this program, but find that eating the majority of dinners in the hotel (in Italy, yet!) is a deal breaker for me. Any thoughts on this?
Alice Iaquinta Feb 23, 2014 at 01:02 PM

Martha, The food and wine on this trip was excellent. Most times our lunches were multi course affairs of authentic regional dishes at amazing and varied sites. They were so exquisite that I was often reduced to tears when I saw the plattters and dishes being brought out!

Would very much like to contact fellow traveler from San Francisco while I am here, 2/19 to 2/24, but don't have contact info with me. If you see this, please call or email me. You have the list; I don't. Alice

I was on this trip last October. It exceeded my wildest dreams. Highly recommend especially for anyone with family from the area. It explained my aspects of my family's history and cultural shaping. Absolutely fabulous food and wines every day with sites well chosen, intimate and authentic. Have booked four trips for fall of 2014 as a result!

Does any one else who will be on this trip have parents or grandparent who immigrated from the area? My grandparents came from Santa Severina, a town we will visit. I am hoping get the "lay of the land" so I can return for a long stay in the near future and really hang out. Would be great to find others who might have similar desire to try a few months exploring all of southern Italy from a home base.

Is anyone flying from Atlanta to Rome on May 8th for the Puglia/Calabria program?
Barb
Alice Iaquinta Oct 19, 2013 at 12:53 PM

Yes. Barb, I am flying into Atlanta from Chicago and will arrive att 10:15 a.m. There is almost a six hour layover until the flight to Rome departs, according to the itinerary. Where are you coming from and when do you get into Atlanta?
Alice Iaquinta Oct 19, 2013 at 12:55 PM

Oops. Just realized you went in May. I am going now, the last week in October. How was your trip?

John Garrett Feb 07, 2013 at 09:58 PM

Hello,
I plan to arrive in Rome a day early, proceeding on to Lecce. I am departing Rome May 3 and had thought to spend 2 or 3 days in the Naples area before arriving at the rome airport the night of may 2. Are any other participants interested in a few days excursion post tour?

John, I will leave next Sunday for the trip. How was yours? Any hints for travel success?
