Hello, My husband & I are signed up for the Aug 1 - Aug 15 trip. I have been to Alaska twice since my niece lives in Anchorage. The last trip we had foggy weather for our glacier and whale watching trip, but the guide told us not to worry sometimes he saw more animals in bad weather. We had a whale show put on by the Hump-backed one that lasted so long our boat finally just had to leave them. There were 10-12 or more of them. I have never been on a cruise, so this is my dream-come-true one. We are retired, my husband is a retried teacher and has traveled and live in other parts of the world. But we haven't seen this part of the country this cruise covers, so we are really looking forward to it.

I'd really like to go on this program but have a little problem with motion sickness. Can anyone tell me about the at sea parts of the trip?
Barbara Ellis Feb 04, 2015 at 07:03 PM

When I went on this trip we didn't go in open water however they go where the whales are so could go out farther. My remedy that always works is take two ginger capsules just before or when you get out on the water.

Sea was fairly calm on our September whale watching trip. Of course the wind could blow. Barbara's suggestion may help.

Not much activity on this discussion board, but we just returned from this fascinating trip. We saw lots of bears and lots of whales. Certainly a variety of places visited too.

Has anyone taken this trip? I am thinking of the Sept trips because of the possibility of seeing grizzlies from a viewing platform. Has anyone taken this trip with the bear viewing platforms?

Many thanks! Linda

Changed my mind-I'm staying an extra day after to do this-anyone else staying after?

Barbara Ellis Jan 28, 2014 at 02:56 PM

Is anyone signed up for July 2014 trip going to make a special trip to Butchart Gardens? I'm planning on going before program starts. Barbara
