We're on Delta flying out of Logan on June 15th at 7:15pm arrive Amsterdam at 8:15am. Looks like several of us we be there via different airlines around the same time. Does Road Scholar meet us or do we just meet at the ship?

Elizabeth Golden Apr 16, 2014 at 11:59 AM

I will be leaving from Boston on British Airways at 7:15 on June 15th. I wondered if anyone else is on this flight? Maybe we could meet for a glass of winebefore the flight, I was told we may not be sitting together as we are were booked at different times. Beth Golden

I loved this trip with Hedi and Franz. Great lectures, nice people, great ship. Food got a little tiring so we often ate lunch out for a treat.
Mary Falwell Apr 05, 2014 at 10:53 AM

thanks for the input. Was thinking the same thing about having a few lunches or dinner off the ship.

We are planning on staying an extra night in Budapest in order to vista the "Great Synagogue" and do some kind of Jewish Quarters/History tour. Does anyone have a lodging recommendation or tour information? I did do a bunch of web searches, but personal advice would be of great help.

Boscolo Budapest was lovely and has a great spa. The New York Cafe there is beautiful.
Ed Bolson Apr 03, 2014 at 10:16 PM

Thank you! After looking at some other options, we reserved a room at the Boscolo - the room rate appeared to be a bargain, also. Looking forwards to a last dinner at the New York Cafe!

Does anyone have thoughts about what to do in Vienna. Should we pre-book the concert/dinner ? Is it worth it. Sounds like it might be a nice night
Marlee Lindon Apr 03, 2014 at 08:10 AM

I went to the Vienna Opera when I was there. I purchased my ticket online before the trip (do ASAP, they sell out!). Saw Don Giovanni. A dream come true.
Mary Falwell Apr 05, 2014 at 10:51 AM

Did you do the dinner and concert package or was it just the Opera?

Patricia Telfer Mar 29, 2014 at 09:50 PM

I did this trip in June, 2013. The Road Scholar group was about 34 participants. The boat held about 138. Road scholar participants did tours as a group and had our own bus if needed. Dining was open seating. Free time could be spent with Road Scholars or others. It was a great trip despite floods of 2014. Traveling in May 2014, Road Scholar, and AmaWaterways to Berlin, Munich, and Danube cruise.

Thanks for the info. I was curious as to how meals were handled. You answered my question

My husband & I also just signed up for the June trip. We have taken 1 cruise on Windstar down the Amalfi coast and loved the convenience of us and our luggage staying 1 place and the boat moving. We're flying out of Boston and will be in Amsterdam the morning of the 16th. Looking forward to a great time with all. Maybe a dumb question but is the whole ship Road Scholar or are there other non RS folks on board?
Susan Ried Mar 29, 2014 at 06:04 PM

Hi, Mary. I am also flying out of Boston on the 15th at 7:15pm. Did Seine cruise/normandy beaches last September with Road Scholar. Great. I was told that this cruise will have no more than 36 people. Have also done 6 or 7 Windstar cruises. Lots of fun, also. Looking forward to meeting you and everyone else on the 16th. See you at Logan. Thanks for the input. We'll have to touch base before the 15th just to recognize each other mary

My wife and I just registered for the June 2014 program also. We're from Redmond, WA, but will be leaving from Newark after babysitting the grandkids :) We've done a couple of pretty active RS trips (kayaking, for example) and are looking forward to some relaxation along with the pleasure of visiting fascinating parts of Europe!
