I hope that everyone going on the June 6 trip has a wonderful time. I feel as if I know you all! Please remember to come back and let us know how it was.

Considering this trip for 2014. I saw on the DOHOP site that Turkish Airlines seems to have a better schedule and cheaper. Luft leaves Ashkabad 1:30 am, Turkish around 7:30 am. Has anyone considered using Turk. Airlines?
Judy Briley Jun 05, 2013 at 12:13 PM

Our friends who are on this trip are going to Almaty from Chicago via Istanbul on Turkish Air Lines. Only issue is that you arrive at 6 am on June 7 and have to get a room for your travel weary body.

I am on the Oct 3 departure and just received my Information Packet, which seems to indicate that I should have received a link to a visa application kit. I Can't find it--can anyone who has it give me the link?
Warren Blaisdell May 31, 2013 at 02:51 PM

Dawn, go to GenVisa on the internet. They have all the Visa applications for our trip. It takes quite awhile to fill them out. Also you will need 12 passport photos. You can do this with an online photo co -OnlinePassportphoto.com The website will tell you how to do this. Good Luck. Marilyn

Hello all -
I am on the June trip. I look forward to meeting everyone and experiencing this incredible part of the world. The reading in prep has been fascinating.

Hi Jim,
I must admit I considered going one day earlier but when I checked the difference in price between upgrading to business class & room against RS’s special price for business class & convenience of being met & transported (I am widowed), I decided to “go with the flow” and am going on 6th. I think you guys are smarter ... if my husband was alive I would have done it “your way”.

Look forward to meeting you & Siv.

Ciao,
Carole

Greetings to all participating in the June 6-24 Silk Road Trip. We are going one day early so that we are well rested. Are any of you arriving one day early? My wife Siv and I will be arriving in Almaty late on June 6. We look forward to meeting everyone at breakfast on June 7, or June 6 if you are coming one day earlier.

We will be departing from Chicago to Frankfurt connecting on Lufthansa to Almaty. From what I see on the blog it looks like a number of us will be on the Almaty flight. Looking forward to the trip.
