Memo to Ann Woodlief: Looked into cost of transportation, tickets going in back door--no standing in line. It's quite pricey and decided to stick with the program as scheduled. Versaille can wait another year or so when the U.S. dollar is in a better position globally. I'm looking forward to another Road Scholarship learning trip with grandson. I've been in Paris when they had a freaky cold two weeks in summer. Even though a hot July is expected, be prepared to layer clothes.
Thank you for your response. LaVerne

My husband and I and our twin granddaughters, Rachel and Megan, will attend the July 12-20th program. We travel from the West Coast so are arriving three days early to help with jet lag. We are all looking forward to our time in Paris.

Would like to connect with others doing the July 5th to 13th program 2014. My 15/16 year old grandson & I are doing a week in England first and arriving Paris on the 5th and staying through the 15th. (His birthday is during the program). We'd be interested in sharing excursions to Versailles and/or the Loire Valley on the 6th, 13th, or 14th.
Karen Zentgraf May 05, 2014 at 05:38 PM

We,(Hank, Kimmy (15), and I won't be able to join you.... We have one day in Iceland before arriving in Paris on the 6th, and then leave on the 13th for relatives in Germany. Looking forward to meeting you on the 6th!

July 19 - 27, 2014 Paris trip. Anyone interested in an afternoon at Versaille? Maybe skipping the cruise on Seine, taking it on free evening which is prettier, and go to Versaille on July 22 afternoon. Should have taken extra day, but didn't, so hope this works.
Ann Woodlief Jun 18, 2014 at 05:58 PM

My granddaughter and I would be interested in joining you to Versaille.
Laverne Romanik Jun 19, 2014 at 06:03 PM

Ann, this is LaVerne here. When I saw that we would be on the bateau mouche in the daytime when it is so much prettier when it is nighttime, My first thought was taking my grandson (15) with me at anight, and with what would I replace that time. I haven't been in Paris since 1986, and don't know if it is as safe to walk around the city at night as it used to be. I had almodst forgotten the idea of using that time at the Versaille, until your response. Sometime within the next week, I will make inquiry as to the possibility of the side trip to Versaille and what would be involved - transportation, time, cost, etc. and get back to you. I'm so glad that you responded. I'm an agreeable person and flexible, and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. My grandson is quite personable also. I say that as if anyone has a grandchild with whom they travel wouldn't be. I certainly will get back in touch with you,.

Sorry I didn't get chance to proofread before it was posted.
