We arrive in Paris 3 days before our program starts. Any advice on how to get to Versailles? And Giverny? Anyone else in Paris May 14-15-16-17? (Tour starts May 17 at 5:30 pm)
Lynn Forsberg May 02, 2015 at 09:44 AM

I went on a bus other friends went on a train.
Deborah Lynch May 19, 2015 at 01:27 PM

The RER train to Versailles is easy. Everything I'ver read suggests taking a tour to get to Giverny.
Rosalyn Goodman May 19, 2015 at 05:00 PM

Yes, thank you. Taking public transportation from Paris is complicated and time consuming. We learned its better to sign up for a bus tour.

I am getting excited about my May 2 trip to Paris. Anyone going on that trip?

Paulette Zubel Apr 26, 2015 at 10:09 AM

Hi Carol, my cousin and I plan to participate in this program in Oct. 2016. Can't wait! Another participant who went on this program in Oct. says the weather is like New England in the fall, and that the crowds are thinner. Also, I've learned from experience that if you book the program via phone, you can reserve both hotel and flight to arrive early and stay late. That way you should be able to stay in the same hotel and same room as is booked for the actual program. Bon voyage!

Carol Apr 24, 2015 at 09:23 AM

I am thinking about going on the one of fall trips. Can anyone give me an idea of what the crowd situation and weather might be like? Also, am thinking about getting there a day or two earlier than the start of the trip so I can adjust to the time change. Any ideas about places to stay that aren't too expensive?
Kae Yates Apr 26, 2015 at 12:24 AM

Carol, I am enrolled in the 9/18 Paris Independent trip. Everything I've read says the crowds are less in the fall and weather is unpredictable..hot, cold, rain etc. which is becoming more typical with the climate change. I've also inquired about staying in the R.S. designated hotel and you can reserve a room a day or two before the tour begins for the same R.S. rate. That way you don't need to move from one hotel to another. Good luck and happy travels.
