Looking for folks going on Sept 9 Scottish Highlands trip. Any other East Coast folks? Can't figure out how to get names of others. Sue Gettens Northern NY State
Wendy Wartes Aug 26, 2015 at 12:20 AM

RS usually asks participants to sign name address etc. towards the end of the trip and doesn't disclose in case anyone would not want their name out there. Voluntary and individuals do it and then they type it out and hand it out.

Hi Jack,

Hi Jack...we just finished the Scottish Highlands tour this summer and, before we left, I was hoping for a little bridge playing. HOWEVER...you are really kept VERY busy. After the long day and delicious dinner, trust me...you'll have very little energy to play a few rubbers.
Joyce McCauley Aug 24, 2015 at 08:38 PM

Oh...and MUST HAVE ITEMS: Bring rain gear and lots of layers. I wore long underwear EVERY DAY...and that was in July. Of course, I'm from Texas so am used to warm weather. You may not mind the cold.
Jack Emsoff Aug 24, 2015 at 10:04 PM

Thank you very much for your comments. We are from central Texas but we have been to quite a few Christmas Markets in Germany. We usually don't mind the cold. Thanks again. Jack

We are going on the Aug. 12 trip to The Scottish Highlands, is there anyone out there going on that. Wondering how rainy and/or cold the weather will be.
Laura Fleck Jul 17, 2015 at 06:37 PM

I'm going back to Orkney about the same time and have been watching the weather and talking to orkney friends. It appears that it has been much colder and darker than usual. I'm taking fall clothes and rain jacket.

Lynn Deen Jul 06, 2015 at 10:16 AM

I am going on the Sept 23-Oct 5th. Is that the one you are going on

Janice Morgan Jul 05, 2015 at 03:11 PM

We are getting excited about the trip to Scotland in September of 2015! We are traveling from Salem, Oregon with 6 active and fun adults....2 couples and two single women. Who else is on this trip that wants to chime in?
Lynn Deen Jul 06, 2015 at 10:18 AM

I will be on the best of scotland trip leaving Sep 23rd. I am coming from Gainesville Florida.

Joyce McCauley Jun 03, 2015 at 12:49 PM

Dan and I are going on this trip, July 29-August 11. Traveling about in Wales and the Orkney Islands before the trip. Then will zip down to Newcastle afterwards before flying back to Houston from London. Would love to know if anyone plays fun bridge during the Heart of the Scottish Highlands tour.
Nancy Pritchett Jun 30, 2015 at 10:32 AM

I play bridge - providing it's for fun. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Joyce McCauley Jun 30, 2015 at 11:31 AM

Oh great! That makes three of us for bridge (FUN BRIDGE). We only need one more. Anyone out there interested? We'll see you, Nancy, at the King James on August 30. We'll be traveling from the Orkneys by train, but should be there by lunch.
Wendy Wartes Jul 06, 2015 at 02:07 PM

Just watched two videos on the Orkney Islands. One was all about the fact that they now are totally self-sufficent for electricity from wind, solar and water and generating enough surplus they may set up greenhouses. You'll evidently see many electric cars ont he islands. The other a longer documentary on the recently discovered temple that is 500 yrs. older than Stonehenge.
