Adele and I are going on the October 7th trip to Scotland. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Joyce McCauley Jun 03, 2015 at 12:49 PM

Dan and I are going on this trip, July 29-August 11. Traveling about in Wales and the Orkney Islands before the trip. Then will zip down to Newcastle afterwards before flying back to Houston from London. Would love to know if anyone plays fun bridge during the Heart of the Scottish Highlands tour.
Nancy Pritchett Jun 30, 2015 at 10:32 AM

I play bridge - providing it's for fun. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Joyce McCauley Jun 30, 2015 at 11:31 AM

Oh great! That makes three of us for bridge (FUN BRIDGE). We only need one more. Anyone out there interested? We'll see you, Nancy, at the King James on August 30. We'll be traveling from the Orkneys by train, but should be there by lunch.

Jane Jurrema Aug 17, 2014 at 04:59 PM

I'd like contact with those going on Sept 10th trip. My friend and I would be interested in a bridge game some evening.
Laura Fleck Aug 17, 2014 at 05:04 PM

I am also going on the 10th but do not play bridge. I spin and knit.I'm from NC and going on to Orkney and Shetland for wool Week.
Jane Jurrema Aug 17, 2014 at 07:25 PM

My friend wanted to go to Orkney but it was full. I'm sure she'll want to talk to you about it. I think she plans to go next year. Glad to read here that we don't need to pack hair dryers. We are both from New Mexico.
Laura Fleck Aug 17, 2014 at 07:46 PM

It will be fun to meet you
Katherine Keene Jun 04, 2015 at 02:42 PM

Jane, see my note to Laura. There are 6 of us from Salem, Oregon on the Sept. 9 trip. We are all fit, active, optimists:)
Laura Fleck Jun 04, 2015 at 03:07 PM

I went last year! Laura
Katherine Keene Jun 04, 2015 at 10:45 PM

Yikes! I see that now. Sorry we missed you!
Kenneth Van Der Laan Jun 13, 2015 at 06:10 PM

I'm coming from Denver a day early. As a last resort for a "4th" I'd step in, but I might try your patience.

Laura Fleck May 30, 2014 at 02:03 PM

For the July 2 - July 15 program. Anyone leaving from San Francisco Airport?

Jackie Switzer Mar 31, 2014 at 12:31 PM

Booked for this trip (13-26 August) and on to the Ireland trip (26 August - 4 September). Anyone else doing one or both trips?
Marilyn Eddy Apr 12, 2015 at 06:59 PM

Just booked for the August Scotland trip - looking forward to meeting everyone.

Marylee McGregor Mar 19, 2014 at 04:28 PM

Does anyone know if the rooms at the Aigas Field Centre have hairdryers?
Wendy Wartes Mar 19, 2014 at 08:35 PM

Yes they are available. You will so enjoy this trip, our best ever.
Marylee McGregor Mar 19, 2014 at 08:59 PM

Wendy, thanks for the quick response, AND the answer I was hoping for. I try to pack light, so things like that are not on my usual list. Everything I've heard about this trip sounds wonderful. And since some of my ancestors came from "near Inverness" (to quote the family historian)....
Marylee McGregor Mar 19, 2014 at 09:01 PM

And, Wendy, I see that earlier you said your husband wore a sport coat to dinner several nights. Did you change from "usual" "visiting the Highlands" clothes to something a bit dressier?
Wendy Wartes Mar 20, 2014 at 12:58 AM

A sport coat isn't necessary. Some wore them but most men didn't. Often you go right in to dinner when returning from a fieldtrip, maybe with a bit of time to spruce up before drinks are served. Tea is at 4:30 even if out hiking, drinks at 6 and dinner at 6:30 with optional lectures at 8pm.
Wendy Wartes Mar 20, 2014 at 01:01 AM

BTW we went in August and there was no rain the entire 13 days so the only things we packed and didn't use were raingear.
Marylee McGregor Mar 20, 2014 at 09:31 AM

Wendy, that is good news about no rain. And thanks so much for all your comments-the "post afternoon field trip" schedule is really helpful just in terms of visualizing how things work out.
Elizabeth Ferguson-Pfeil Jun 29, 2014 at 05:16 PM

I should have come here first. Been hunting all over for hairdryer info! Now i can take it out of my suitcase. thanks!

Laura Fleck Jan 29, 2014 at 11:55 AM

I'm on the Sept 10th 2014 trip then going on to Orkney and Shetland for Wool Week.
Anyone else doing the same?
I appreciate all the tips Punky
Marylee McGregor Mar 13, 2014 at 12:45 PM

Laura, that extension for Wook Week sounds wonderful. But, I'm on the July 30-Aug. 12 version. Went for possibly warmer weather. Be sure to write about all your experiences afterwards. Marylee
Marylee McGregor Mar 13, 2014 at 12:45 PM

Well, if I could just spell Wool!
