From the perspective of those who have been, how will this affect the trip as a whole? What will be missed? Is it still worthwhile?

Jim Mawhar Nov 21, 2015 at 11:48 AM

Apparently they have dropped the Western Desert portion of this trip and replaced it with three more days of river cruise and changed the hotel at the end of the program.
Dorothy Tardiff Nov 21, 2015 at 12:53 PM

I assume this was done for security/safety reasons. Truly a shame because the desert was a truly awesome part of the adventure.
Ellen Saunders Nov 21, 2015 at 01:20 PM

I agree that this is a loss - I wasn't particularly drawn to the program because of the desert days, but they turned out to be very very interesting.

I am signed up for 10/15/2016 trip. Hometown is St. Louis, MO. Any information would be appreciated.

Chris Straton Sep 25, 2015 at 01:39 PM

I am signed up for 11/12/16 trip. Anyone else going then?

Heather Quinn Sep 06, 2015 at 12:56 PM

I just signed up for the 9/24/16 trip. Has anyone done this trip recently?
Jackie Day Sep 07, 2015 at 08:15 PM

I am signed up for April 2, 2016. Sure wish there were reviews on Egypt trips.
Dorothy Tardiff Sep 25, 2015 at 03:33 PM

I did this program on Oct. 2012 - our group posted several reviews - don't know why they are no longer available. FYI - they were all positive. We had an amazing adventure - absolutely NO problems of any kind. Will gladly share my notes if anyone is interested.
Jackie Day Sep 25, 2015 at 07:41 PM

Very interested. Do you know how to share?

Alot can happen in the next 4 months. We are also keeping our fingers crossed that the November trip is not cancelled. We have been watching the news closely, particularly on Al Jazeera. The Al Jazeera coverage is the most in-depth on political developments.

There's (no surprise) a new State Dept travel warning on Egypt: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/tw/tw_egypt.html
Cross your fingers....

Johanna Husslage Jul 06, 2013 at 06:52 PM

I was enrolled in the Febr program however it was cancelled just a week before our departure date. Now I am enrolled in the Oct 5-21, but the odds are not looking good!
Patricia Wright Jul 09, 2013 at 03:26 PM

Johanna, was the Feb trip cancelled because there was not enough people or because of political strife?
Johanna Husslage Jul 10, 2013 at 08:12 PM

I was contacted by Elderhostel to tell me that the State Dep. had adviced against it
