I'm on the 8/19-9/2 tour. I'm interested writing to anyone taking the same trip. If you'd to write - send a post.

I have booked the trip for Sept. 14 to the 28th. Traveling alone and looking for a female roommate. I'm not much of a talker but am ready for an adventure. I am a retired elementary teacher and librarian.

Hi! I am up for meeting new traveling friends for the July 7 trip. Looking forward to seeing you in Nairobi. Got yellow fever vaccine; are all getting malaria pills too?

i see lots of excellent comments on trip guide paul kirui ... did anyone else have a guide about whom they can offer comments, either pro or con?

Hello - does anyone have experience spraying clothing with permethrin? Do you think it is necessary, in addition to DEET and malaria prevention medication?
Premium Email Subscriber May 16, 2015 at 01:38 PM

I went last January--WONDERFUL trip; i had DEET, but did not spray with permethrin. We ran into a swarm of tetze flies and got a few bites on exposed hands; but no real problems.
Michele Brandenburg May 16, 2015 at 03:56 PM

We've sprayed our clothes plus some of our clothing is pretreated by the manufacturer. Did this for the Amazon & Aftica. Also, wiped our skin with DEET & took malaria meds.
Mary Raynard May 16, 2015 at 03:58 PM

Thank you both - very helpful!
