ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

The RS website says website says "Current regulations allow you to re-enter Kenya from Tanzania using a "single entry" visa."
However, GenVisa tells me we need to add another $50 for a 'multiple entry' visa.
Anyone know for sure?
Barbara Marschke Mar 21, 2015 at 07:08 AM

Charmaine, if you go to kenyaembassy.com, you will see that you only need a single entry visa. You can get it directly from them as well.

I am thinking about this trip, just having returned from another southern Africa trip. My travel clinic would not give me the yellow fever vaccine, citing my age (over 60) but gave me a waver instead--which so far has been okay but I would like to know if anyone else (also over 60) has actually been able to get the vaccine and how were the side effects?
Patricia Rice Mar 17, 2015 at 11:01 AM

You will need the yellow fever vaccine. You will not get across the border into Tanzania without it, and then you will not get back into Kenya without it at the other end of your trip. No side effects . Get the Vaccine before going on this trip.
Charmayne Bischel Mar 17, 2015 at 11:19 AM

3 in my group have gotten the yellow fever vaccine. No side effects. We're all over 70.
Patricia Rice Mar 17, 2015 at 03:09 PM

Most of the people on our trip were over 60 and they all had the yellow fever vacc. Now reported side effects. There were 12 on our trip.
Patricia Rice Mar 17, 2015 at 03:10 PM

Nobody reported side effects,

Charmaine, My husband and I are also taking the July 13-27 trip. We are flying out of Seattle.
Charmayne Bischel Feb 14, 2015 at 06:51 PM

Nice to meet a fellow traveler! I think there will be just 12 of us - so 2 from Portland & 6 from Georgia. With the 2 of you that leaves just 2 unknowns. Carolyn & I are flying out of PDX on Delta to Amsterdam & then Nairobi - arriving 8:10 PM on the 14th.
Kathi Erickson Feb 14, 2015 at 07:30 PM

We are flying American via London arriving at 8:45 on the 14th. I am hoping a one night layover will be enough of a break from the confinement and dreariness of the flight.
Charmayne Bischel Feb 14, 2015 at 07:46 PM

8:45 PM? Carolyn & I do not have an overnight - just the 2 1/2 hr. layover in Amsterdam. But we did Australia/NZ this last year & did ok with the flights. Slept most of the time actually. Looking forward to meeting both of you! Are you actually from Seattle, or nearby?Kathi & ??
Kathi Erickson Feb 14, 2015 at 08:18 PM

Fortunately, both Charles and I are able to sleep on planes, but nonetheless, I feel wiped out, in need of a good stretch, a long walk and a shower after several hours of flying. We actually live near Tacoma. If you are a follower of golf, our house is near the Chambers Bay Golf Course. The U.S. Open is being held there this June.

Going on Oct. 20-Nov3 Trip
Chris and Paul Kardon. Anyone else?

Carolyn Oct 11, 2014 at 04:35 PM

FYI, content manager, most of the hotel links are broken. I'm looking at this for 2015. An aside: I've previously traveled in Tanzania and Botswana and have to say that seeing African wildlife in person is an amazing experience. Happy tralis to all of you.

Judy Macinness Aug 22, 2014 at 03:52 PM

I'm looking to connect with other travelers on the Sept 22-Oct 6 trip. I'm flying in one day early...is anyone else??
Hugh Davies Aug 24, 2014 at 06:51 PM

We are on the Sept 22 trip, flying out of Washington-Dulles. We are not going a day early.
Susan Bradley Aug 25, 2014 at 09:44 AM

English books, maybe about nature, animals, universal themes. I also saw theme books, I.e. Lined in the dollar store that would be useful
Judy Macinness Aug 28, 2014 at 09:38 AM

Martha, my email address is mack8866@sbcglobal.net. Thanks for offering to share clothing advice!
