I would love to see a play in London. Anyone else on the Sept. 29th trip interested in going together?
Virginia Moore Sep 22, 2014 at 08:11 PM

Where will you be coming from?

Virginia Moore Sep 18, 2014 at 02:07 PM

Am I the only one going on the Sept 29th trip?

Virginia Moore Sep 14, 2014 at 01:05 PM

Anyone going on the Sept.29th trip. Only 2 weeks and one day. I am getting excited. This is my 2nd Road Scholar. I went to the Cotswolds 6 years ago and looking forward to going back. I will be traveling as a single so hope there maybe another single to walk with.
Sue Wineland Sep 22, 2014 at 02:36 PM

Virginia, I tried to respond to your post but am not sure what happened. I am traveling as a single as well. Where are you flying from?
Virginia Moore Sep 22, 2014 at 08:11 PM

Apparently there was a delay or something. I will be getting in at 6:20 am from DC. Just saw your post on a play that might be interesting to do depending on what is available. I look forward to meeting you. I will be coming in from Jacksonville Florida and then from Dulles on United..
Sue Wineland Sep 22, 2014 at 08:24 PM

I'm coming in around noon from Portland OR via Amsterdam. See you then.

My wife, Eileen Saunders, & I are coming in from Seattle, arriving Sept. 9. Looking forward to the trip and meeting other members for this 18 day adventure!

What fun to find this lively group of participants! Alas, I fear that you all must have gone on the June trip--or were you actually packing one month in advance? (in which case, I'm WAY behind in both thinking and action). I'm going on the July 7th Quintessential Britain trip and would love to "cyber-meet" anyone else who is. Also would love to hear feedback from this group of June travelers about how the trip went. Meanwhile, thanks to all for giving me a welcome morning smile. Also for the helpful ideas about packing!
Diane Rieschick Jul 03, 2014 at 07:33 PM

Hi Donna, I am Diane and my hubby and I are going July 7th. We are traveling from the West Coast into London. Trying now to figure out how much/little to pack. Road Scholar really suggests packing light, so we are going to try to do just that.
Donna Cross Jul 03, 2014 at 07:44 PM

Hi, Diane! I'm also traveling from the West Coast, but arriving London a few days in advance. Looking forward to meeting you and your hubby! Am packing VERY light as well (just one carry-on bag).
Diane Rieschick Jul 03, 2014 at 08:18 PM

Happy travels, Donna. You are indeed traveling very light. Looking forward to meeting you. Just so looking forward to this trip!
Donna Cross Jul 04, 2014 at 05:49 PM

Me too. Wonder why no one else is on this board. Previous group was VERY active around this time. Sounds like they had a great trip too!

I am Carolyn Denenberg. Forget what I said about a few pants and tops. I am taking a lot more. It all fit into two suitcases. One 24 and one 22. Thanks to cube-it bags. Didn't take those thin type hiking or travel pants. Mine are baggy and new ones I looked at were not fitting correctly. I am traveling with stretchy capris to be comfortable on long plane trip, but have change of clothes ip at Heathrow. Also couple of changes in case checked suitcase gets delayed. I can't travel with couple of changes. I did change my raincoat. Took one that is able to roll up to smaller size. Have a bigger umbrella. Also was lucky to find a primeloft type jacket that is warm but folds up in its own pocket. Less bulky than fleece sweater. Looks like London will be in 70's for high and all other areas are 10 degrees cooler. Big change from high 80's here in Cincinnati. It is raining some where in United Kingdom at sometime. But does seem to be getting drier as weeks go by. Raining a lot here.

Have safe flights and see all of you at the orientation meeting on Tue., at the Edwardian Vanderbilt. Hope they have extra strong coffee in London.
Cathleen Kinn Jun 06, 2014 at 12:56 PM

I am ready! If any of you are traveling through several time zones for the first time, you might want to Google "jet lag". Looking forward to meeting you.
Alvin Denenberg Jun 06, 2014 at 01:22 PM

We have travelled west to CA and Hawaii many times. It will be interesting beginning a trip, traveling east with an overnight flight. Need caffeine. Anyway, my watch is already set for London local time. Hope we don't get to the airport an extra 5 hrs ahead.
