What is the average number of individuals participating in this program? Is does not appear to be advertised as a Small Group.

Scandinavia has been on my bucket list since I started single travelling as an octogenarian. Been to Australia and Alaska with wonderful people. I live in midtown NYC. Upcoming birthday will be in Helsinki.
Mary Ellen Porcelli Mar 12, 2014 at 09:54 PM

How did you like the trip? I am going this year and will be spending my birthday in Helsinki, too. I am a big Sibelius fan. Have you been to the Scandinavia House at 58 Park Ave? This will be my first solo trip outside the US.
Hilda Jaffe Mar 13, 2014 at 11:41 AM

Lived up to expectations. All guides excellent. Weather held up. Big ferries interesting. Happy Birthday-- you may celebrate with serenade in Finnish.

I am traveling on my first RS trip and really looking forward to it. I live in Long Beach Ca. My husband died 2 years ago and this is my first adventure alone.

We live in Lakewood, CO and this will be our third Raod Scholar (Elderhostel) trip. We are both originally from upstate New York.

Karen Vanderschaaf Jul 03, 2013 at 07:48 PM

Derek and I spent most of our lives living in the VA suburbs of Washington, DC. We are now retired and living in Pawleys Island, SC. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Do we need to pack a hair dryer or will the hotels have them?
David Wright Jul 05, 2013 at 05:59 PM

I know Pawley's Island well...do a beach trip in October every year with 11 others...been doing it for years now.

I am a retired teacher from Rapid City, SD. This will be my first trip abroad and my first trip with RS. I'm Norwegian and Danish and have been working on my genealogy, so it will be great to see where "my people" came from.
Also looking forward to meeting all of you.
Marian Irvin Mar 07, 2014 at 11:52 AM

I am also a retired teacher--from Illinois. My husband and I were SD "residents" for 9 years after I retired. We were full-time RVers for those nine years, and spent some time in SD--especially when we were renewing drivers' licenses, etc. What date will you be going on this RS trip? I will be on the August 17-Sept. 3 trip; I'm doing a back-to-back trip with a Norway trip on July 31-August 16. I think you'll like RS; I've done 20 trips with them--most of them in the US.
