How many people were in your groups? I'm thinking of taking this trip in the Fall, but not sure how I'd feel with a big crowd.
Joan K Apr 17, 2015 at 12:31 AM

Helen: I attended the Spain and Morocco program in April of 2013. I would estimate there were approximately 40 people. l/2 were couples; 1/2 single. As with all of the other Road Scholar programs, its easy to make new friends. I have attended 7 R S trips and it is my

favorite way to travel. Good Luck, Joan K
Helen Cagampang Apr 17, 2015 at 12:34 AM

Thanks, Joan. Someone had a comment that the group size was so large s/he could not hear the guide. I was worried about hundreds. I, too, have enjoyed Road Scholar trips, New Zealand and Bhutan, so far - good people. Thanks for the response.

Hi, My husband and I are attending the Oct 9 Spain-Morocco program. We'll be in Madrid a few days early and plan to meet the group at the Madrid airport Oct 10 for the transfer to Toledo. I've not rec'd info yet about the time the RS air travel group arrives in Madrid. I'll call again on Monday, but just wondered if anyone is flying with the RS group from the US. Thanks! Llewellyn, Juneau
Llewellyn Lutchansky Sep 23, 2014 at 12:55 PM

We'll see you at the Madrid airport about noon on the 10th!

Julie Lutz Feb 21, 2014 at 09:42 PM

Hi Everyone: Julie here from Seattle WA on the Mar 13-29 program. I think the Spain part of our visit will be particularly interesting in the light of the Spanish government's likely-to-be approved offer to grant citizenship to Sephardic Jews.
Karen Annis Feb 23, 2014 at 10:29 AM

Hi Julie, I am so looking forward to this program. I am very interested in the Moors entry into Spain and how they moved around. I wonder if the Spanish Government's approval will come before we leave.
Julie Lutz Feb 23, 2014 at 06:16 PM

I'm hoping we get some nice spring weather, too. Where do you live Karen?
Karen Annis Feb 23, 2014 at 07:55 PM

I live in Northern Ontario, Canada, about 5 hours drive north of Toronto. We've had blocked roads, -40C weather and over 6 feet of snow, and most of it is still sitting on my front lawn!!!!
Julie Lutz Feb 25, 2014 at 11:08 PM

So do you travel from Toronto to Madrid or via some US city? I'm coming from Seattle to Amsterdam to Madrid.
Karen Annis Feb 26, 2014 at 08:38 AM

I'm flying out of Sudbury-Toronto-Frankfurt to Madrid. I arrive at 15:50 on March 13 and am staying at a hotel at the airport. I will join the group at the airport on March 14. I sure hope the weather is nice. We've had -20 C - -10F weather again. The only saving grace with Sudbury is we have the most sun in the winter. The snow is sparkling outside my window. A group of us are going out to do 'snow dyeing' today. I think I'll put on a few extra layers today. lol When do you get into Madrid?
Julie Lutz Feb 26, 2014 at 12:08 PM

I don't arrive in Madrid until noon on Mar 13. I may have to make my way down to Toledo on my own if the group has left Madrid. I know Sudbury for the Neutrino Observatory. I'm Emeritus Astronomy faculty from the University of Washington.
Julie Lutz Feb 26, 2014 at 04:07 PM

I meant Mar 14. Evidently I will be met by a RS rep so I don't have to deal with the metro/train.
Karen Annis Feb 26, 2014 at 08:31 PM

I'm to meet the group at the airport at noon, so perhaps you'll get through customs before the bus leaves for Toledo.
Karen Annis Feb 26, 2014 at 08:35 PM

We are very impressed with the information that is being collected by the Neutrino Observatory. My late husband had the opportunity to visit the site because he worked at INCO (the observatory is located in one of INCO's mines.)
Julie Lutz Mar 04, 2014 at 06:46 PM

Karen, are you on Facebook and/or LinkedIn? We haven't heard from others on the trip, so perhaps we should discuss in another forum.
Karen Annis Mar 04, 2014 at 07:38 PM

I'm not on either but linkedin sounds more interesting. Or my e-mail address. Karen
Karen Annis Mar 05, 2014 at 06:30 PM

I tried to send a reply to your friend message, but it came back. I must have to 'friend' you as well. I'll try. lol
Robert Grierson Mar 07, 2014 at 10:34 PM

I used to work with Inco people but never made it up to Sudbery. See you in Madrid or Toledo.
Karen Annis Mar 08, 2014 at 08:32 AM

I look forward to meeting you. It's always interesting to hear people's adventures with INCO!!

Christine Marks Oct 02, 2013 at 11:30 PM

Hellllooooo out there!
I'm still wondering if anyone is going on the 10/17 Spain/Morocco trip. Am I the only one? (I know...it can't be just me. Can it?)
Joan K Oct 03, 2013 at 02:09 AM

Christine: Thanks for posting. I enjoyed this adventure in April '13. I met some very interesting people, as I have on all Road Scholar trips. It was very well organized and insightful. I hope you enjoy your trip. Joan

Christine Marks Sep 24, 2013 at 11:36 PM

Hi Everyone,
Is anyone out there going on the 10/17 Spain/Morocco trip? I'd love to connect with a few people before we go. Thanks! Christie Marks

Hello Road Scholar travelers,
I am going Spain and Morocco for the Sept. 5, 2013 program. My roommate and I will be arriving in Madrid on Sept. 4. Is anyone else going to Madrid early?

Ray Stachon Feb 20, 2013 at 02:54 PM

Hello fellow travelers, I'm going to Madrid a few day early, anyone else going to be in Madrid before this trip or after?
Joan K Feb 21, 2013 at 02:21 PM

Ray: I will extend my visit in Madrid at the end of the program. My son & daughter in law are attending Grad School there.
Ray Stachon Feb 26, 2013 at 05:53 PM

Joan, I will also be back in Madrid I think, after, how nice it is to have someone there you know.
Bob Bish Apr 24, 2014 at 11:17 AM

Nancy and I arrive in Madrid on Tuesday May 6 and will be at the Husa Paseo Del Arte next to the Atocha train station. We kive in Florida in the winter and British Columbia in the summer.

Joan K Jan 04, 2013 at 05:16 PM

Looking forward to meeting fellow travelers on the April Spain & Morocco sojourn.

Karen Annis Feb 20, 2014 at 11:13 AM

I'm going on the March 13 2014 Spain/Morocco tour. Anyone also going? I'm staying on in Marrakech after our tour.
