We're immersed in the last 50,000 things we still have to do before we can leave home tomorrow at 6am. We tried hard to avoid this but it seems inevitable!
Sandy Smith Jan 22, 2015 at 11:26 AM

I know the feeling. I have been racing around this morning because I keep remembering things I haven't done. I always swear I will do better next time but still seem to be rushing.

Sandy Smith Jan 21, 2015 at 09:59 PM

We will be arriving at midnight tomorrow night from Houston m I can't wait to meet everyone. Sandy and David Smith

Hi judith-I got the information and went to the website-very interesting. I am a docent with the Seattle Art Museum and appreciate art and artists. I plan on being downtown on Feb 5th and will stop in the gallery. Thanks for the lead.
Julianne Seeman Jan 19, 2015 at 02:56 PM

I live in Seattle. I would love to connect with you. 206 801 7681. I have a full suit - goggles and fins for sale for a good price if you are interested.
Julianne Seeman Jan 19, 2015 at 02:57 PM

I have Asthma and needed Ozn the Andes but was fine in the Galapagos.
Julianne Seeman Jan 19, 2015 at 02:57 PM

And I picked up sea sick pills in Quito. They worked great!

Judith Mage Jan 16, 2015 at 02:28 PM

Hi Nancy: We love to snorkel and have our own masks and snorkels. I don't like fins. Our MD prescribed "Acetazolomide" pills when we went to Switzerland but we didn't need them. He said its better to take them in advance, but you can take them if you get symptoms when you're at the altitude and they would help somewhat. Is that anyone's experience? I'd much prefer coca leaves.

Cal Tax Jan 16, 2015 at 01:58 PM

Hi Nancy,
Yes we did the same many years ago and agree with you about the coca leaves and tea brewed from them. Very helpful.
Yes we are planning on snorkeling and just purchased a couple of wetsuits so we don't get too cold.

Nancy Preg Jan 16, 2015 at 01:09 PM

Hi folks,
I am arriving late on the 21st after a long plane flight from Seattle. I have traveled in high altitude and urge you to take the recommended precautions for high altitude(Quito is at 9300+feet) . You are arriving too late in the program to take the altitude medication. When I arrived in Cuzco I was handed a pouch of coca leaves and chewed them whenever I felt out of sorts-it worked but I don't know if Equador allows the same thing. The Quechua natives use this to combat altitude sickness and it is very effective. I am traveling solo and have enjoyed every traveling group I have been a part of. I really look forward to meeting you all. Are you planning on snorkeling?

4Culture, and its electronic storefront gallery, e4c, are located at this address: 101 Prefontaine Pl S Seattle WA 98104 They show four-channel and other videos on four screens, in the window 7 am to 10 pm. The videos loop so one can't know for sure what will be playing when but the loop repeats over and over all day. My video initially was there Sept 2013, and they tell me it is back now. Here is the link when it first went up. The website says e4c is closed for the upgrade but actually the upgrade already happened- they just didn't update the website. -- Tona Wilson

Oops, I tried to send a note about this info which if you have any time before you leave and happen to be downtown my partners 4 screen video is on view, but will still be when you return. Since you live in or near Seattle....

Judith Mage Jan 16, 2015 at 11:38 AM

So there's at least two Sandy's on this trip, only one is Sandi. It is totally frigid here in New Paltz and it is nice to pack bathing suits and summer shorts, Is anyone else arriving Quito at 9:38PM on 1/23 on American Airlines? If so, let's share a taxi to hotel.
Cal Tax Jan 16, 2015 at 12:34 PM

Sandi and Cal are arriving on Feb 22, sorry, but hope you have a great trip.

Cal Tax Jan 16, 2015 at 09:08 AM

My husband Cal and I will be on the February 23rd trip and are getting excited about meeting fellow travelers , sharing a very special place. And we too share pet sitter concerns....always nice to meet other dog/cat people. We will be leaving from Atlanta on the 22nd. Sandi Tax
