Anyone headed there on the Nov 8th program?

Pam Moor Jun 20, 2015 at 09:04 PM

Anyone headed to Galapagos on July 5th?
MATTHEW CITRON Jun 26, 2015 at 09:32 AM

We'll be aboard the Galaven.

Nancy Patton Apr 19, 2015 at 03:04 PM

Anyone headed to the Galapagos trip aboard the Seaman Journey on May 6th? We're arriving a day earlier on the 4th in Quito?
Helen Ross Aug 29, 2015 at 07:35 PM

SInce you went a day earlier, did you book your own airfare and hotel for that extra night? How was the transfer from the airport to the hotel? We are on the Nov 8 trip and want to arrive a day earlier as well.
Nancy Patton Sep 01, 2015 at 05:35 PM

Hi Helen...I booked the extra day, hotel, and air fare through Holbrook Travel,Inc. which is connected with Road Scholar at 800-866-7111. They were excellent all around! My May trip was very challenging but filled with glorious memories!

Jeanne Wyman Mar 01, 2015 at 10:32 PM

We got notified yesterday that the Galavan will still be in dry dock for the March 8th trip so we have been move to the M/V Legend. That is a much bigger boat. Has anyone traveled on the Legend? If so, what was your experience?
Karla Guyn Mar 04, 2015 at 11:47 PM

Ugh...we are scheduled on the March 22 trip. The Legend looks like a 100 passanger ship...not exactly the experience I am looking for...

Susan Berger Feb 24, 2015 at 11:06 AM

Did you need to reserve a wet suit in advance or were there enough available on the boat?
Sandy Smith Feb 24, 2015 at 07:14 PM

I reserved one in advance because I am so small However, those who didn't were able to get them onboard anyway. If you own flippers, take your own. They have them but many were old and i couldn't find any that fit. We were on the Yolita II though.

Cal Tax Feb 24, 2015 at 08:41 AM

The rental wetsuits are $40. For $70 we bought our own and know they will fit and function. Cheap insurance and no disappointments.
Sandy Smith Feb 24, 2015 at 07:18 PM

You are right, Cal. I wish I had known that before we went.

Alex Atkinson Feb 22, 2015 at 11:07 PM

We were there in January 2012 and were glad we had rented wetsuits. Aside from giving some warmth, they also provide some buoyancy, which means you don't always need to wear a lifejacket. Take something colorful to loop through the zipper pull to identify your wetsuit - they all look alike but are different sizes - it's very nice to be able to identify yours easily. Have fun!
Helen Ross Aug 29, 2015 at 07:44 PM

Are the wetsuits full length or shorty ones? Thanks.
Alex Atkinson Aug 29, 2015 at 08:13 PM

I believe they were shorty - came down to our knees and to our elbows. Have fun! Jane Atkinson

Cal Tax Feb 22, 2015 at 10:29 PM

While I have never been there and cannot give first hand information I have a friend who has made several trips and he recommends a wetsuit.
