Road Scholar
Program #8577RJ
9 Days | 8 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Anyone else arriving around 11:45 a.m. on Apr 10? My daughter, Sue & I will be coming in on Delta from Atlanta at that time. Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Fred Emerson, Jr Apr 09, 2014 at 12:37 PM

Judy,

We will be coming in on a Delta flight from Los Angeles. Our names are Fred and Nancy Emerson. So glad we are being met
by Road Scholar and will see you at that meeting point if not before. Nancy Emerson

I am hoping to catch up with the other two people who are coming in tomorrow at 5:40 AM. I understand that the Road Scholar transport will take us to the Hotel. I hope to find you tomorrow morning. If you can would you e-mail me your names? Judy Fpox

Hi all. Almost finished packing but a couple of last minute questions. Anyone know if we need hair dryers? I checked the individual hotel websites but not always mentioned. The masking/plastic tape? I only have large rolls and prefer to leave home. Finally, think we will get water on the bus? I know the suggestions include bringing a water bottle but I was hoping bottled water would be the norm. Thanks for any answers provided. See you soon. Toni

Costa Rica is not Mexico. When we went last May, we had no problem with either the water or food. They gave us water bottles and usually had water on the van.

JOSEPH CHIARELL Apr 08, 2014 at 08:12 PM

Thanks, Rosanne for all the valuable info:) I will pack accordingly.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful hints. I bought a lot of stuff today--hope it all fits in the suitcase. Judy

Sink stopper would be useful for shaving
Also,
1. RS recommends bringing 3 tops. I am bringing 8 tops one for each day. Is that too many?
2.Sneakers & Shoes. I am bringing 2 pair. I am wondering if one pair would get soaked in the Rafting Ride. Sneakers take a long time to dry out. Is this a problem?
3. Any problem with ticks?
Thank you,
Rosanne Frost Apr 07, 2014 at 09:48 AM

1. You know yourself best. You can get away with less, but you might want to change for dinner.
Rosanne Frost Apr 07, 2014 at 09:49 AM

2. Your feet will get wet on the river rafting trip. I wore water shoes. Others wore Teva-like sandals.
Rosanne Frost Apr 07, 2014 at 09:50 AM

3. No problems with ticks in January
