Finally, I've been using Wikipedia to get background, along with Google Earth. Very helpful. All for now. Good night.

Nancy, Pau and I may see you in LAX.

Carol Reukauf Jan 29, 2015 at 01:50 AM

I guess there is a 44lb weight limit to Siem Reap.

Karen I am with you in getting things together- It will be hot and humid and bring some kind of light rain cover. I haven't read anywhere where Malaria is a problem- usually the tropics and still water. I'm bringing pants, and maybe long skirt - walking shorts for the ship or whatever you want. I've found that similar garb for Europe is fine in Asia. I don't think our group will be into tube tops and bikini's somehow. I was told there are 18 of us on the trip. Anyone leaving from LAX? There is an internet center and they usually charge by the hour or have packages for the duration of the trip. Texting is expensive you might want to talk to your provider and see if they offer an international calling package for the month.

Nancy 21 tours is certainly a testament all by itself. Glad to hear about Georgia.

I am a little tardy in getting my act together for this trip but I am very excited about it. The weather is of concern to me with the Australian drought etc. and I wonder what to wear outside. I'm concerned about my unfamiliarity with the region and wish I'd found more time to read but the "at sea" sounds promising for this. Anyone know about communicating via text/email with home while we are away? Also, is everyone taking malaria pills? What about mosquitos?

This will be my 22nd Road Scholar program and the 2nd Voyages to Antiquity. The group leader, Georgia, was the excellent leader of my other Voyages to Antiquity program. This will not be my first visit to Asia, but the first to SE Asia.

Glad to hear about Georgia.

Would love to hear from other people on this trip so we could get to know each other a little before we meet. This is my first Road Scholars trip so "what to pack" would be appreciated. I'm leaving out of LAX. I live in LA

The laundry on this ship is pretty good. I did hand was of light weight knits and quick dry clothes. Hat, 2-3 quick dry pants, skirt, capris or shorts, several quick dry shirts, long sleeve quick dry, I have a pair of insect repellant pants and a shirt, insect spray, rain poncho, sandals, walking shoes, swim suit.

That was "hand wash". A visor is nice for dining on deck. I take 5-7 nylon-type undies to hand wash. Panty-liners for day-long excursions. My Dr. Told me that the gut bugs are immune to cipro in SE Asia, so he gave me Zithromax. If you need more info, call. 661-948-2478 CA
