Hi..I am taking the Feb.13-23,2016 trip from Jacksonville, FL and looking to chat with someone taking the same trip. here is my e-mail .. jstoerkel@windstream.net

Ann Moffat Dec 02, 2014 at 06:09 PM

We have Diving & Snorkeling Guide to Fiji ($5) and Fiji's Natural Heritage ($30) available. We found them an interesting read but as we have returned from our trip, we no longer need them. Email me at ann.moffat@tds.net if you are interested.

We just returned from our trip. We HIGHLY recommend a 3mm full wet suit like we brought (because an Fiji experienced dive shop owner recommended it). People without a suit or with short suits were consistently cold (many rented suits once we got to Paradise Teveuni). If you already have a short suit, consider a hood.

BTW, good underwater photography requires a strong flash to get colors right.

I just bought a Fuji xp70. Tried it in the pool. Got it sent to the local Walmart for $169. Tried it in the pool last week. So far, so good. Ordered extra batteries and plug-in charger form Amazon. Hasn't arrived yet. Isn't it disappointing that the biggest complaint about underwater cameras is leaking!!!!!!!!!! Can let you know if it holds up when I get back after Nov 11. 5 more days! :) As for the wet suit, see my post below. Bound to get cold if you stay in the water long enough. Kitty

What kind of water camera should I bring? I do not have one.

Do I need to have a wet suit? I do not have one. Is the water too cold to snorkel in? Where should I buy one? I am going 2/14/2015-2/24/2015.

Dear Peggy, I will see you on this trip. I had no idea the water was cold! I was just worried about the heat and humidity! I presume that we can buy a wet suit once we get there? I am going to La for a couple or days to visit family before taking off for Fiji on the 14th. Maybe I can buy on in LA… Looking for forward to meeting you.

Dwain, the last afternoon on Taveuni is "free". (Tho I guess we need to pack.)If you take your trip then, you wouldn't miss our first snorkeling. Kitty

Question for someone who's been on the trip. I'm just wondering how much Fijian currency we need. I see that we're going into SavuSavu town, for money changing among other things. How much cash would we actually need? I assume there's shopping in town. Are there also shops near the resort or anything? Just wondering how much need there would be for spending money? I appreciate your advice.
Cynthia Liss Sep 19, 2014 at 01:21 PM

Dwain, I went last November, I did not really find much to buy, the take you to town in a taxi, and the town id small. You can exchange money in the bank, They told us to bring hand wipes-but mine were always paced away when I needed them! Try to bring them for the ferry ride....just saying.
Dwain Sep 19, 2014 at 08:40 PM

Thank you. I was just kind of wondering how large an amount I should have available for withdrawal. I wasn't really expecting to need a lot of spending money. I presume there is an ATM at the bank? I've read that ATM's are available.
Richard Treiber Oct 29, 2014 at 03:53 PM

We just returned. There's an ATM in Savusavu near the few stores you may visit. We didn't bother with town and never exchanged any money. Bought a tapa at Daku resort but used US$.

are their baggage size or weight limits?
Richard Treiber Jul 29, 2015 at 08:17 PM

We had one very large bag and one small carry on per person. I don't recall the details.Check Fiji Airlines web site.
Debbie Biner Aug 13, 2015 at 08:28 PM

Anyone go on this trip in early Feb.? How was the temperature both in and out of the water?
