I am on the Dec 26th trip coming from Portland, OR as a single, any matching partner ideas since they don't offer that service for this trip apparently. Older single male with no limitations.

Is anyone signed up for the January 10 departure?
Bill Westendorf Oct 07, 2015 at 04:15 PM

Hello Nancy. Bill & Christine from Virginia Beach are in the January 10 departure and continuing with the North Vietnam extension at the end of the program. We're looking forward to the trip.
Nancy Brown Oct 07, 2015 at 05:38 PM

I am really looking forward to the trip too. I will be traveling with a friend who I have met through Friendship Force International. We have applied for our Vietnam Visa and it seems like all of our travel plans are coming together. Have you read any of the recommended books?
Bill Westendorf Oct 08, 2015 at 09:37 AM

You're ahead of us, need to get pictures for Visa app. Haven't read any of the recommended books yet, there are so many - think I'll try the one mentioned in the post from 9/12 - Eaves of Heaven, A Life in Three Wars.
Nancy Brown Oct 11, 2015 at 09:07 AM

That sounds like a good place to get started. We had to get moving on the Visa application because Mary, my travel partner for this trip, needs hers back for a trip she is taking in December.

Meredith Bell Sep 12, 2015 at 08:41 AM

Looking forward to my upcoming trip (September 19)!
I just finished on of the books on the recommended reading list and highly recommend it. A great overview of recent history of Vietnam.
Eaves of Heaven, A Life in Three Wars by Andrew Pham. Written as a memoir of his father's life in Vietnam. Excellent.

If my flight arrives on time in the morning of 9/13 in Siem Reap I'd be up for lunch. Where? What time? Have a safe trip, Serena
Serena Uible Sep 02, 2015 at 03:54 PM

I got the recommendation from NYT in a recent article about great Cambodian cuisine.
Serena Uible Sep 02, 2015 at 03:59 PM

Khmer Touch. http://www.khmertouchcuisine.com. My reservation is for noon. Under my name. I'm sure I'd be easy to find. If you can make it by say 1:15 ... I'd say come and one way or another you'll get lunch and we can chat.
Susan Rattray Sep 02, 2015 at 04:24 PM

due at airport before 10 AM. I have NYT article. Will try to get to restaurant by 1. We'll meet later if not then. Don't starve waiting. S.

Is there anyone on the Sept. 27 trip? It looks like my dad and I are the only ones who've posted so far.
Lori Shader-Patterson Sep 19, 2015 at 10:04 AM

My husband and I are on the trip. We live in Michigan. Ronan Patterson, Lori Shader-Patterson
Samantha Weaver Sep 21, 2015 at 10:16 AM

Hi, Lori! We're getting really excited about the trip. I imagine, like us, you're in the middle of packing and preparations. If you're on Facebook and would like to connect, you can find me at https://www.facebook.com/samkweaver. I'm looking forward to meeting you!
Lori Shader-Patterson Sep 23, 2015 at 06:28 PM

Couldn't find you on facebook . . . I'm Lori Shader-Patterson
Samantha Weaver Sep 24, 2015 at 12:15 PM

No worries -- we'll be meeting in a few days anyway! Good luck getting everything packed!

Richard Weaver Sep 01, 2015 at 05:43 PM

My daughter and I will be on the 27 September-11 October trip. Looking forward to an exciting time. We both have always wanted to see Angkor Wat.
Lori Shader-Patterson Sep 23, 2015 at 06:29 PM

Are you and Samantha doing the extension?
Samantha Weaver Sep 24, 2015 at 12:15 PM

No, we're not. We're spending a few days in Hong Kong on the way back.

Serena Uible Aug 31, 2015 at 12:10 AM

Since I seem to be the chattiest .... Here I go again.

I have restaurant reservations in Siem Reap for lunch on both September 12 and 13. I'm fine eating alone, but also would love company.

So far, most of the advice I've read about Vietnam travel is to NOT bring any clothing that is 100% cotton, travel light and be brave and cross the street.

I leave Friday!! It is gonna be a GREAT trip!

I've been watching the weather .... It is cool .... Compared to Phoenix in September... And raining about every single day . Which will be different for me. Maybe the rain will be refreshing; might as well look at it that way.
Edna Alvarez Aug 31, 2015 at 12:27 AM

Yes, do be careful crossing the streets. It is like no where else in the world. And enjoy. The people are friendlily and helpful. I didn't spend time on my own in Siem Reap but did so in Saigon. Have a great time. It is a terrific itinerary!

Meredith Bell Aug 07, 2015 at 11:29 AM
