My husband and I (73,71) are old India hands but have never been on a tour together. We are considering the new trip to Sri Lanka and Southern India next Feb., but would like to hear first how some of you feel about a group of 24? I went alone on an OAT tour whose max was 16, and 24 sounds like a lot. We also wonder if anyone familiar with India travel can tell us how good a job Road Scholar does.

At JFK at the gate :-)
Sharon Goldzweig Feb 27, 2015 at 12:24 PM

Hi Cindy: Have a really great time for both of us... maybe you will even get a single room. I had to cancel at the last moment (yesterday) -- got ill, worn out, flu, ... let me know when you return how it went. I am hoping to reschedule.

Sharon Goldzweig Feb 02, 2015 at 08:28 PM

this will be my first trip to India - does anyone have a recommendation on what women ought to wear - is it better to wear long pants or skirts below the knees? Sleeveless shirts? I am on the February 27th trip.

My husband Martin and I are going on the India/Nepal trip Jan. 16, 2015. We are travelling from southern Ontario (St. Catharines, flying out of JFK. Any others going at that time?

Mary Luersen Oct 22, 2014 at 05:59 PM

oops, I just found the info in my Information Packet. Is anyone going from the Bay Area on Nov. 7th trip?

Mary Luersen Oct 22, 2014 at 05:52 PM

Please, anyone, will we have WiFi or Internet access in the India and Nepal hotels? What chargers etc should we bring?

Cindy Lawson-Kester Oct 14, 2014 at 11:37 AM

I'm going on the India/Nepal trip on February 27...from Illinois. I'm a newbie
Sharon Goldzweig Feb 02, 2015 at 08:26 PM

I am also going and also a newbie to the extent I have never traveled to India. I will be going alone. And you? I live in NY and will be boarding a plane at JFK
Cindy Lawson-Kester Feb 02, 2015 at 10:54 PM

I will be traveling alone, have never done so and never been to India. I live in Illinois but will be flying to NY and boarding at JFK also. Hurray! A fellow traveler!
Sharon Goldzweig Feb 06, 2015 at 01:54 PM

Hi Cindy: Great news-- I had some concern that I might be the only single which, given it is my first trip as a single, would not have been what I would have chosen. Road Scholar said there were several like minded singles.
Cindy Lawson-Kester Feb 06, 2015 at 04:31 PM

Sharon, I'm glad to know I'm not the only single woman also. This is an adventure for me in so many ways! I am flying in a couple days early to avoid any weather delays and will be staying near the airport. I may venture into the city on Thursday if you are interested. Or perhaps we can grab a cup of coffee at the airport before the flight. Feel free to check out my Facebook site and we can communicate through it if you like.
Sharon Goldzweig Feb 09, 2015 at 04:42 PM

Hi: sorry such delays... I work full full time and find nearly no extra time. I will probably work on the Thursday before our flight - did you have Road Scholar make your airline reservation? Do you know the time, airline, etc? I either misplaced the information or it wasn't sent yet. Also, are you getting vaccinations?
Cindy Lawson-Kester Feb 09, 2015 at 09:06 PM

Sharon, the flight arrangements are somewhere on this website but buried fairly deeply. However mine came in snail mail today under separate cover so I imagine yours will also in the next day or so. I got a Hepatitis A vaccination and also took an oral medication for typhoid....both recommended on the Center for Disease Control site http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/india for "most travelers".
