We are attending the trip on Nov 8...the pack list "strongly recommends" hiking poles. On our last hiking trip to a different place with RS the poles were provided by our guides...does anyone know if this is pretty standard or do we really need to bring our own? Don't want to buy if we don't have to.

Took this trip in Feb of this year. We brought our own poles, but could have gone without them. If I remember there were a few poles available, but the trails are not overly aggresive, and if your knees are in pretty good shape you probably don't need them, but they are helpful if you have any knee problems.

My husband and I are enrolled in this trip beginning November 1st. I'm interested in feedback from past participants re: meals (set menu or buffet?) structure of daily hikes and free time. Many thanks, Lucinda

Now I see that not every group in the past stayed at the Chiso Mountain Lodge, that is where our group is staying.

I'll pay half the car rental if I can ride with someone to/from Midland on the Feb. 8 trip. Charlene

My wife & I are attending the Feb 15 trip. driving down from Midland on Feb 15 if someone would need a ride, we should have an extra space or two.

I'm enrolled in the Feb. 1 trip. I live in the D/FW area. Haven't made travel plans yet. Is there anyone travelling from this area? Anyone want to share a ride from Midland or El Paso?

Still looking to tag along with someone renting a car from Midland for the Feb 8-13 trip. Thanks, Charlene

oops-correction. I'll drive to Midland on Sunday, Jan 25 and fly home on the 26th.
