While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Thank you! That is exactly what I wanted to know. Nancy Dunn

We were all extremely casual - I didn't bring a dress. It was hot, so bring lightweight loose clothing. Don't forget sunglasses, and I loved my big straw hat! They suggested covering up the arms to the elbows and legs to the knees for propriety. Have a great time.

Danny Dunn Feb 16, 2013 at 09:40 PM

Question for thos who have been on this trip - Is a dress necessary? I am trying to decide the minimum I can get by with clothes wise. Any advice/suggestions?

Sherill Cyr Feb 15, 2013 at 04:34 PM

I do hope you all are able to get to Egypt eventually. We went on the Road Scholar tour last October (just before the latest turmoil), and had a wonderful trip.
Alice Engelman Feb 15, 2013 at 04:38 PM

I'm talking about program #12778 "Beyond the Pharaohs". Two different programs, one country. Doesn't seem one would go and not the other, however, my program isn't there yet! We too may be cancelled even tho our departure draws nigh.

Johanna Husslage Feb 15, 2013 at 04:25 PM

I was told that I could rebook for Oct 5 which I did, he never mentioned another trip to Egypt. program I am talking about is #18774

I am so sorry but it really isn't a problem I can slove for you. I suggest you call Road Scholar yourself if you have questions. Nancy Dunn

That was not what I was told, The gentleman from Elderhostel phoned me a week before we were to leave that the State Department had told them not to go!!!

Johanna Husslage Feb 15, 2013 at 03:19 PM

How come this program is still posted as a "go" and my program which was to leave Febr 9 was cancelled ?
Danny Dunn Feb 15, 2013 at 04:07 PM

I checked with Road Scolor and they said that was cancelled for low enrollment. Nancy Dunn

My March program was cancelled due to low enrollment as well so i asked to change to the Feb 22 program as it was a "go". I'm surprised RS didn't offer you that option.

Danny Dunn Feb 15, 2013 at 01:38 PM

Well, we are less than a week away from leaving for this trip. Very excited and so far the political unrest seems failry contained.
Very much looking forward to all the wonderful things we will see. Nancy Dunn

Alice Engelman Feb 15, 2013 at 04:16 PM

I think it will be a wonderful trip despite some in-country unrest which I know RS is monitoring closely.
