Anyone planning on taking advantage of the hiking opportunities on the May 3rd trip?

Kenneth Nelson Jan 24, 2015 at 01:47 PM

Heading out to Pisa via KLM from SFO. Looks like an overnight hotel both ways. Any suggestions for other flights.
Gerald Cutler Feb 14, 2015 at 12:09 PM

No idea. We are leaving from Miami.

Gerald Cutler Jan 22, 2015 at 11:39 AM

We just signed up for May 3rd. departure and hope we won't be needing heavy coats.
Looks like a nice balanced trip with hiking opportunities. Anybody else going on this departure?
Donna Callahan Jan 22, 2015 at 12:00 PM

Plan on layers; boat ride can be chilly, as well as elevated areas. I was there in Sept and learned this. Across the street from hotel is private beach. Bring swimwear if so inclined. Every detail about this trip is top-notch and marvelous.

Why is everyone bundled up in coats on this boat? Isn't Italy warm mostly?

Just signed up for this trip for 9/27 - 10/8/15 and would love to chat with other registrants. This is Carole Kenyon and NOT Ralph Kline by the way. (We have one shared email and too complicated to add another email to the account.)

Oh Ken, see the shot you were talking about now. Carole Scotch Plains, NJ Dec.12, 2014

I'm excited to be on this trip, leaving Oct. 5 from NY (JFK) Any other New Yorkers on this flight?

Can someone tell me - I'm one of those folks who gets seasick. How long is the boat ride to Cinque Terre?
Raymond Lewis Sep 04, 2014 at 01:03 PM

Just over an hour. Don't worry your leader watches the weather outlook, and changes the schedule if appropriate. That was done for us on our June visit.

Phyllis Taylor Aug 28, 2014 at 12:31 PM

I will be flying on Sept. 7 on KLM from San Francisco to Amsterdam, then on to Pisa. It looks like many of you are going earlier or from the east coast. If anyone has similar flights, I'd love to find you. Now that I look, it seems that Mary and Raymond may be on the same flight to Pisa--KLM 2657.I look forward to meeting you all. Phyllis Taylor

Hi fPhyllis, Mary and Ray went to this program in June but, we did fly into Amsterdam. Unfortunately our flight was 3 hours late in leaving due to aircraft problems. As a result we missed the one flight a day to Pisa. KLM rerouted us through Munich to Pisa and we arrived at the end of the group dinner in Lerici. We took a taxi from Pisa at a cost of 160 euros. This has happened to us before on other trips, so I always make sure I have some Euros in my pocket just for such an emergency.
