Would any on going on the trip starting June 15 like to car pool from central CT

Richard Grove Aug 25, 2014 at 08:30 PM

Our experience (June 2013) was that an escort vehicle preceeded the riders and another vehicle followed the final rider(s). The lead vehicle always stayed in advance of the fastest riders (usually we were at the front of the group). We were not held back and knew where the stops were.

Ed Cloughessy Aug 25, 2014 at 05:12 PM

Are riders meant to stay together or may experienced riders follow a map and continue on own, meeting at pre-planned site?

Karen Scott Aug 20, 2014 at 11:12 PM

I have several friends who ride 3-wheel recumbent trikes and are interested in this trip. Are recumbent trikes appropriate for this ride? Also, is there a sag vehicle on these rides?
Richard Grove Aug 21, 2014 at 11:26 AM

The recumbent trikes should be fine. And, yes, sag vehicle is part of the deal. Great experience. Go for it!

I did this trip a couple of years ago and had a great time. The program was a good balance of biking and culture of the Amish and Mennonites. Roads are beautiful for biking. A recumbent trike should be fine. Have fun!

So excited to know there will be some other tandem riders. My husband and I ride tandem and are eager to go on this trip.

Richard Grove May 02, 2013 at 06:01 PM

Myra and I will be riding our tandem, a road bike, on the tour. Tires are 700 X 28.

Ken Monnin Apr 04, 2013 at 08:24 PM

My bicycle is strictly a road bicycle. Are the roads on this trip good enough for me to ride my bicycle, or do I need something with bigger tires?
Ellie Knesper Apr 04, 2013 at 09:44 PM

I took part in this program two years ago. The roads are in extremely good condition -- very smooth pavement, low traffic, beautiful rural scenery. I don't recall any roads that required wider tires. Enjoy the A typical road bike should be fine.
