Has anyone arrived a few days ealier for this trip ? How do you arrange formality and transport to you hotel when you arrive alone ? Thank you
Bev & Greg Moss Oct 03, 2015 at 10:23 AM

We could get a non-stop flight from JFK/ NY to Stockholm that brought us in two days before the river cruise started and got in about 11 am Stockholm time. This helped us get on the right time zone with minimal adjustment. We spent a nice day and a half in Stockholm and then flew Aeroflot to St. Petersburg Thursday morning. We had spoken to Road Scholar to coordinate our airport arrival with their transfer pickup to the RS hotel. This really helped. Just call them and they will assist you.
Bev & Greg Moss Oct 03, 2015 at 10:23 AM

We are from Michigan so we drove to NY via family stops in VT and NJ.
Bev & Greg Moss Oct 03, 2015 at 10:24 AM

There was another couple from CA who came into St. P about 2-3 days earlier as well and were able to stay at the RS hotel and sightsee on their own.

Is this trip traveling in dangerous war zone or is it in quiet areas. Do you feel safe in the boat and in hotels in the cities ? I would like to go in May/June trip. What happens if the political situation gets worst, is this trip cancel and reimbursed ? Thank you for your answer.
Terry & Bobbie Blanchard Oct 02, 2015 at 08:14 PM

this trip is safe. St. Petersburg, Moscow and the river stops are no where near any conflict. Just book and go. You will have a great time. We were on the July 2015 trip.
Bev & Greg Moss Oct 02, 2015 at 09:18 PM

Greg and I travelled with Terry and Bobbie. You are thousands of miles from any dangerous areas. We felt very safe on the ship and in the hotels and in the cities. Do not deny yourself this trip. Road Scholar does a phenomenal job of taking care of your safety as well as any questions you have. We did make sure we had the trip insurance more for personal reasons than concern for political dangers. You will be so delighted with the trip!! Do go!

I'm looking forward to meeting you both, Connie and Nancy. Are you aware that European restrictions on carry-on luggage have tightened up? Worth checking.
Nancy Bailey Aug 26, 2015 at 05:38 AM

Still fighting to get my visa in time! Thanks for the advice.
Norah Davis Aug 26, 2015 at 06:56 AM

Yikes, fingers crossed.

Looking for the other participants going on the July 22, 2015 Sailing.
Cathy Villa Jul 09, 2015 at 04:47 PM

My husband and I are going on this trip (July 22 - August 3, 2015). We plan to arrive in St. Petersburg on July 20. Will anyone else arrive early? Perhaps we can meet?

Jeannie Duffy Apr 14, 2015 at 04:26 PM

Anyone coming in early to St. Petersburg for the May 13-25 trip?

Connie Solfermoser Mar 25, 2015 at 05:39 PM

Is anyone coming in early to St Petersburg or staying longer in Moscow on the Sept 2-14 trip?
Connie Solfermoser Apr 13, 2015 at 01:58 PM

For a tour that is completed booked you would think someone would answer back.
Nancy Bailey Aug 25, 2015 at 05:44 AM

Hi Connie and Norah, I will be on the Sept.2-14 trip and am traveling alone, too. As for clothes, it looks like it will be chilly! I'm bringing a warmish jacket with hood and a wool hat and gloves, just in case. Looking forward to meeting you all.
Nancy Bailey Aug 25, 2015 at 05:44 AM

I'm arriving in St Petersburg on the 1st (2 days early) but flying back home on the 14th.

Connie Solfermoser Mar 24, 2015 at 10:36 AM

Is anyone on the Sept 2-14 trip? I am a single looking for any other singles. Any ideas on clothing?
Norah Davis Aug 17, 2015 at 02:41 PM

My friend and i will be on the Sept 2-14 trip. I was the victim of a hit-and-run car accident a month after signing up for the trip, but my injuries are mostly healed except for a hip injury that is helped by using a cane. Those of you who have been on the trip before, will i have any difficulties?
