Did the men wear blazers/ties too?
Margaret Prentice Aug 28, 2014 at 04:23 PM

Blazers - yes. I never saw a tie. I'm pretty sure about that!
Herbert Ware Aug 28, 2014 at 05:35 PM

Some did, but not all. I did not and was not alone. It is all in one's comfort level.

Margaret Prentice Aug 28, 2014 at 06:59 AM

I packed three pair of black slacks and a few more tops - ranging from casual to nicer. Light packing also means you have fewer decisions to make! Have a wonderful time - this is an amazing trip. We wish we had it to do all over again!

Carolyn Bennett Aug 28, 2014 at 05:26 AM

There are a couple of occasions on the River Boat that are a bit festive. Don't get too fancy.

Dorothy Purdie Aug 28, 2014 at 12:17 AM

A pair of black slacks and 1 pair of dressier flats (shoes you can walk in) along with some costume jewelery/scarf or stole is all you need. If your packing is navy or beige work with that...always one basic color. Layer..layer you can be well dressed to go any where and still travel in a 22in bag. Travel is easier with less. A nice coat, unlined windbreaker and a sweater to use any time needed completes the wardrobe. Did this trip Oct.2012 and it is outstanding. Happy travels!!

Laurie Travers Aug 27, 2014 at 11:06 PM

We have a question about the suggested packing list. They specify bringing a pair of pants or skirt and also shoes that are suitable for dress. Can any of you who have taken this trip please comment on the purpose of that? Thanks!
Susan Eissinger Aug 28, 2014 at 12:38 AM

I enjoyed this trip a great deal last year. It was my first RS trip and I didn't realize that there were quite a few evening meals where the attire was a little dressy. I wished I had packed a few more options for the evening. As Dorothy suggested, black pants are great along with the accessories she mentioned. Some on my trip found room for a dress or skirt. Enjoy!

We're leaving 9/8/14 and haven't heard a peep. We're flying from EWR in NJ arriving 9/9 7:45 a.m. Looking forward to meeting our fellow travels. Hope we make it from the airport to the hotel!
Gregory Osborne Aug 15, 2014 at 10:55 AM

My wife and i took the train from the airport to Paris in 2010. It worked out very well. Is that your plan
Paula Jacobson Aug 16, 2014 at 08:54 AM

Yes, we've done it before but would rather be picked up...getting spoiled. For the ladies out there, what's your take on white tennis type sneakers for the trip. Any fashionista comments accepted!
David Martin Aug 29, 2014 at 12:44 PM

Read verywhere not to wear white tennis shoes. P{ick pokcte swill find you quite as an American. I use black sneakers in Europe all the time.

We will be on the Oct. 18-31 trip and plan to extend 3 nights at the Villa Beaumarchais, after the program ends. Anyone else staying on? We are from Chesapeake, VA.

Have any of you on the Sept. 14-27 received your final packet of info yet--the one that's supposed to have name tags etc.?
Gregory Osborne Aug 13, 2014 at 04:47 PM

My wife was wondering about that too. We have not yet received ours.
Linda Haller Aug 13, 2014 at 09:14 PM

Linda Haller Aug 13, 2014 at 09:14 PM

We haven't either. No doubt it will be here soon.
Laurie Travers Aug 27, 2014 at 11:03 PM

We received ours, but it had several blank and/or unreadable pages. We were told they'd send a new one.
